yapping alert: starfruit is in Heroes is a legendary card called Shooting Starfruit. he's quite expensive and very fragile, but attacks in all lanes, meaning that he hits 5 times as hard as most other plants, and he benefits A LOT from buffs. overall he's considered a meme because of the super high risk high reward strategy to not only place it and have it live but also buff it. if you catch your opponent off-guard this can win the game in an instant, but usually they have something to stop it, hence he's not very relevant in the meta. if you want to play starfruit you either include him in an onion rings deck for green shadow, or in a midrange deck for citron/beta-carrotina (make sure to bring pumpkin if you do the latter).

Fun fact: Starfruit (in PvZ 2) was once a premium plant and I think it costed $4.99 in older versions and I don’t know why they changed it to be a seedium plant. I love to use starfruit and pea vine combo since starfruit can hit everywhere and easily kill Gargantuars. And I see why you think it’s the best plant because I think so too 👍

1:06 - Honestly I disagree with this take. Starfruit is one of those plants that REQUIRES to be spammed to be "one of the best plants in PvZ1". Think of it as lightning reed from PvZ2. It has a rather weak damage output on its own, but spamming that quickly adds up. It's flawed against tanky zombies such as Gargantuars & Football zombie, though you'll most likely bring stallers (to some extent) to slow them, or use magnet, but Starfruit requires a LOT of support to be a good plant. 1:12 - Kinda?... I'd say that the 5-directional projectiles are a double-edged sword. It's good as it allows for, well, multi-damaging attacks at the same fire rate as a peashooter. I'd say it's somewhat detrimental to itself as it skews the front projectiles quite a lot. Starfruit cannot defend its OWN LANE, unless there's a zombie behind it, which is a niche in both games it's in. 1:24 - No comment as I completely agree with this. I'd say Pogo Party is where starfruit is the most effective with its gimmick, as most pogo zombies will be landing ON the starfruits while it proceeds down its lane, which is a crap ton of damage. 1:43 - It's kinda hard to make out what you mean by this, exactly. If you're referring about a zombie being in the same column as 4 other starfruits, then that's the most niche thing in the ENTIRE TD sub-franchise. It's only useful for the early game, and I'd highly doubt you'd have a column of starfruits as early as possible. If you're talking about in general? Eh...? 1:49 - It's like, the ONLY viable strategy with starfruit tbh. 2:00 - When compared to the rest of the plants in the game? I'd say it's one the weaker plants in the game. Of course, there's power creep (which you mention later), but overall, it feels like a niche in PvZ2 now. You have plenty of piercing plants that are significantly better at dealing with crowds than starfruit. Ignoring piercers, there's also Bowling Bulb, which I'm willing to argue is better than starfruit. 2:04 - Having it as a seedium is weird, as you'd get Rotobaga SO MUCH SOONER than starfruit, it limits how many people can use starfruit overall, and it feels unnecessary, as both do pretty much the same thing for the same price. There's no reason why one is free, and the other is locked behind a "paywall". Starfuit is objectively worse in PvZ2 because of it. It may seem I'm being REALLY critical with your takes, but they're all viable! I really understand how Starfruit is a beloved plant, though I feel like most people who like Starfruit ignore all of its flaws & stan it as the best plant, EVER. I like Starfruit aswell, I like Gold Bloom more. Nice video, though! I definitely like your takes on the plant... I should stop yapping...

I’ve read this all, I get it. Starfruit spam is basically the only real viable strat with the plant, and it not being able to protect its own lane is problematic, to say the very least? 😭 Not to mention the whole PVZ2 issue of it just being outclassed, not just in its own family but also by other contenders like Bowling Bulb. It has many flaws, but I can’t help it when I say I still love it. It’s goofy, gimmicky and at times a bad investment, but I still find myself liking what it brings to the table regardless. It’s not really my favorite for the spam and consistency though, I think the design is great and it’s a much-needed change of pace plant for PVZ1 Plants, especially considering the filler the game has.

Besides the meta adventure plants you see in PVZ 2 (Magnifying Grass, Primal Sunflower & Potato Mine), there are two plants that I just absolutely adore as I begin to reach the final levels before kicking Zomboss' ass one more time: Guacodile and Shadow-shroom. Both have cute designs, both are quick to recharge. Both are effective. Guacodile is this sort of Jalapeno Chomper Peashooter hybrid that is still good at what it does due to it essentially being a spammable insta. Shadow shroom's ability to ignore armor with its poison makes it so damn effective as a shutdown insta despite not having AOE outside of its plant food. PVZ 1 plants? Puff-shroom and Doom-shroom. One's free damage and a staller. Another is an unforgiving nuke on everything on the lawn.

Starfruit is easily a top 5 plant in the sense of power, but absolutely nobody cares because most people have no clue how to use it in the early game, and the fact is, it doesn't even have to be spammed, once u get a column of them, u are basically unstoppable for the early game and is arguably better than a column of repeaters and i just never understood the argument "well, any plant is good if it were to be spammed" when recharge times and sun costs exist which is exactly what starfruit excels in, the only way i can see starfruit being bad is if someone isn't using it well in the early game, but walls and garlic exist. (This is starfruit in the sense of pvz 1, in pvz 2 roto is alot better) Also some tips for the directions of starfruit's projectiles: starfruit shoots behind it, above it, below it, diagonally up, and diagonally down

Starfruit shoots actual stars, so therefore he is a war criminal because : 1. Stars have a lot of radiation, therefore using them as weapons counts as nuclear warfare 2. He is doing too much unnecessary damage

Same! Literally in floral federation I'm most well known for preaching starfruit ALOT! I MEAN.. what can I say? It's a solid plant in both pvz1 and pvz2, it's way better in pvz1 though. Starfruits are powerful and can also really protect themselves very well if you have alot of them down, yeah you pretty much have to spam them. Starfruit also gets more points for being the most fun plant to use in both games. Honestly.

For me starfruit is the equivalent of lighting reed in pvz2, it's only really effective if you spam it. I'll say though starfruit does feel a bit more satisfying to watch than the other "spam-like" plants out there. But i love starfruit in heroes, you buff that thing's stats and it just destroys the entire zombie field 😍

There's a s*** ton of Plants I could nominate as my favourite. I'll do one for the shooters and one for the TD games. Favourite plant for the shooter games for me has to be... Sunflower. She's adorable. Enough said... well, that and HAHA FUNNI SUNBEAM GO BRRRRRRRR- Favourite plant in TD games is definitely Winter Melon. Kinda cute with its tiny eyes and bulbous shape, deals lotsa damage (imagine spamming these in Terror from Tomorrow. Well, don't imagine it. I do it, it's really effective with sun gain strats alongside Twin Sunflower and Gold Bloom. These might be better than Starfruit imo), chilling effect on top of massive damage is utterly BRUTAL. Literally haven't died in the Far Future endless mode. Period.

It's funny that there Is a plant In PvZ2 that Is actually similar to starfruit that you didn't mention. Rotobaga costs the same amount of sun, the difference being It only shoots diagonally In four directions and could fly, you'd think It would be worse for any level outside BWB than starfruit, but It shoots Its projectiles In a burst of 3, dealing 1.5x more damage than starfruit basically :3 I still love both In terms of design and sometimes use them on my loadout when I feel like It.
