The Artist Way changed my life too. After embracing the concepts in the book, I moved away from my abusive family. In school I took all the art classes I could and wanted to become a painter. But, to please my parents I stayed main stream and worked in clerical jobs. My soul was withering away. After reading Julia Cameron's book I became daring and moved to Taos, New Mexico to explore my creative self. One day, while working in a boutique and taking a check from a customer, I looked up and said "Thee Julia Cameron!" to the customer. I couldn't believe it, the person who gave me courage to be me was right in front of me!

Have you heard of Sarah Peyton? She has a book called "Your Resonant Self- guided meditations and exercises to engage your brain's capacity for healing" which helped me heal my critical, and self-sabotaging, inner voice. (and I also used Reiki to heal physically and mentally from trauma. As my inner child started to feel safe with Reiki, my autoimmune conditions also started to heal. I suffered greatly from Interstitial Cystitis, and wide spread inflammatory issues. After a few months of Reiki, my bladder capacity went from 250cc to 750cc as the inflammation and stress went down.

Boy did this come in right.on.time. And I'm no skimper on healing my CPTSD. There is nothing more daunting for an adult child than loving your own actual child and grappling with not having a gauge/role models on parenting and healthy boundaries. I've just chosen to homeschool, and realize my biggest hold-off was a confusing feeling of "He's better at school than spending too much time with me." for reasons explained in this book... I think Healthy Parenting might just by my bed, for a long time. Velcro on your cape this weekend! You just saved the day!

Is there anyway you could do a mock family session? So maybe we could get a good idea of how an actual session of family therapy works? I think the word therapy can be scary, especially for families struggling. I would like my older children involved but everyone kind of laughs and I think we just don’t know what to really expect? Watching a session and having it explained might help a family like mine debating therapy but that has doubts.
