My favorite spring and autumn fly

My favorite salmon fly for fishing for salmon in the spring and autumn and I hope that if you have a cast with this fly you will have as much success with it as I have had

Thanks for the encouraging comment Ian . There are a lot of rivers now open and like so many others I am not allowed to travel out of my council area and that will stop me from having a cast until the restrictions are over. I have my reels lying out to be cleaned and lubricated and ever hopeful that we can get to the river bank before the Spring ends . thanks Colin I have used it for a number of years. I never named the fly. it was John the treasurer of the P & d AA that asked me to tie him some as he had seen me doing a bit off catching. When he went to log the fish on the web site he had to name the fly and that's how it got its name Cheers Iain 🥃

I never named the fly Paul.... the P&D AA treasurer saw me catch a few fish on that fly and asked me to tie him a few, he went out and caught a 12lb salmon on his first trip with my favourite fly and when he had to add the details to the web site he add Iain bain Special as the fly that he caught the fish on. he went out on several occasions and did a bit of catching. John Cook was a lovely guy and sadly lost his fight with cancer.

@@IainSB Iain im watching you casting the fly more than the fly itself and i believe this is what the call experienced learned. Need to pick your brain if i may. What retrieve do you do on the swing (if any) and i see you let fly sink before retrieve but i can't see your retrieve, what is your norm retrieve with left hand i can't see this bit and what length is your leader. I will be using my Sage X 7 weight 11' fly rod, weight 6 loop fly line, 8' poly leader on my salmon club river this season, any pointers on left hand retrieve after the swing and low calm water would be great. @@IainSB They aint a hope in hell ill be gettuing vaxed...they will have to kiull me first and if imposed with out my consent ill consider tht a direct threat to me to its one of them curtains to who ever tries... 53 yrs owld never had flu colds for best part of 25 yrs...... piriton hayfever tableyts work better than any vax. ;-) theys people already died of the vax...quite a few the tv news isnt showing you...but the fishing cant wait :-) our local police aint enforcing strimgent rules with no basis so i think the fishing like last season will be fine....durham police dont have speed cameras they refuse them and they not arsed if people grow odd cannabis plants so they quite liberal and hate to enforce silly meaning less rules.....they enforce fishing rules mind you :-|

I think to get the deal Boris has Brocken promises to the Scottish fishing industry. the deal means Eu quotas will put a strain on our fishermen. He has now promised them compensation that is just a joke . I think that the deal is not as good as it should have been and can now see a bigger divide growing between Scotland and England.. The world is in a bad enough mess without letting politicians make bad deals.

Hi Gavin I fished on some of the lochs on Borve estates about 40 years ago and I have spoken about the catches of sea trout that I had on small lochs to other anglers ,,,,,,,, these days bring back memories and I wish I had a camera to record my enjoyable days there ... From memory Borve loch was quite small with a bit of weed and full of sea trout ......................... Its all in the brain and in full technicolour .
