I love your videos. Thank you for all the information. I made a large spreadsheet, i would be happy to share it. Question. I want to plant An A and B. One for the in the ground and the other next to it in a container based on my backyard. I really love both the Simmons and the Broden. However, that is not giving me a late-season harvest. If i were to get both of these, which one would you put in the container and the other in the ground? How do you like the Holiday?

Have you ever tried a Nishikawa or seen anyone growing it in FL? I’ve been reading some older posts on the forum that people think it tastes great high oil. I think some forum members in SW FL were growing it successfully

The Nishikawa is medium size creamy avocado with a small seed. Grafted and propagated in Hawaii by an early Kona Coffee grower from a disgarded seed when South American merchants passed through the islands. Very good flavor with high oil content.

I just want to say that I bought a Choquette Avocado tree from Al's Fruit Trees in early May 2020, we planted the tree that same month and last summer (2022) this tree produced lots of flowers but it lost lots of flowers in the late Fall which I assumed because of the time of year. This tree produced anywhere from 30 to 40 Large Glossy Creamy avocados this past year, creamy and oily butter to the point my wife will eat it with Toast, not me. For those who like an early creamy avocado I recommend the Choquette, I bought it because Al recommended it due to where I live in Kendall. This past June I bought a Small Catalina Avocado tree in a 15 gallon cloth container again from Al's Fruit Trees, this one I transferred to a 25 Gallon last month and when it gets bigger, I'm goin to transfer to a 50 Gallon, keep it in the 50 gallon and hopefully sometime in 2024 I'll be eating some Catalina avocados. I also want to say I enjoy your videos and I'm subscribed to your channel.

I recently tried some Simmons from a grower in FL. There was a lot of meat, and they were in great shape, but the flavor was so boring(kinda sweet, but washed out flavor and not good for guac without a lot of dressing up). Previously I've pretty much only had Hass, so I need to try additional types and hopefully identify some others I like. How do you compare the flavor profile of a Simmons in comparison to a Hass? Thank you for all the videos!

I have two avocado trees in my backyard. I’ve always thought one was a Hall avocado and get rave reviews from everybody. My wife is Cuban and has eaten avocados all her life. She’s originally from Cuba married to me a Michigan gander. I have a green thumb and have been growing these for 15 years or better. The other is a pear shaped avocado, not quite as good. If you are close to Royal Palm Beach I would like for you to try mine and give me your opinion of what is the proper kind of avocado. I start to pick them in late August to the middle of October. I will try to attach a couple of photos. Hurricane Milton dropped about 90 of these on the ground early Thursday morning. I am busy giving them away to friends and family, My American Legion and even people I meet on the street. Let me know? Greg G

My experience with Day has been very bad. Not because the fruit is bad, but because the tree has performed so poorly. I have 12 avocado trees, that all get pretty much identical treatment, and they’re all doing great EXCEPT for Day. It has been in the ground for almost two years and hasn’t grown an inch. Just like all my other avocados it is on a large mound so no root rot issues, it is on irrigation and gets watered regularly, it is in a sunny spot and gets plenty of light, it gets fertilizer on a regular schedule…and yet nothing. Not even a single new leaf in almost 2 years. I’m going to take it out and replace it with either a Nishikawa, Kampong or Dupuis, but I haven’t decided yet.
@FruitfulTrees Жыл бұрын
I've heard that about the day tree.
@johnbanach3875 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the tree has no vigor, and the fruit ripens unevenly. I tasted some last season--no flavor. I wouldn't waste my time with Day. Not in the same class as all the other varieties mentioned. Almost everyone I know who had the tree ended up removing it, including myself.

There’s three primary subspecies of avocado, Guatemalan, Mexican and West Indian (also known as Florida avocado). West Indian avocados are much larger but generally lower in oil. There’s also many hybrids of these varieties such as Guatemalan-West Indian, which have properties of both parents like large size (from West Indian ancestry) and higher oil content (from Guatemalan ancestry).
