I have a Dupuis. 1 year in the ground it flowered amazing. Made some fruit (3), but I think I picked it too early. Def don't think its a June avocado, maybe July/Aug. Catalina also flowered but dropped all fruit. It was too young, but it did flower twice but lesser so the next year. My Oro Negro is lazy; no fruit but growing nicely. Of the three the Catalina grows super quickly and is the bushiest. The Dupuis is upward bound and the Oro Negro seems to be spreading in girth not so much height.

Useful info as I add few more to my dozen or so in the ground, farther N. Commifornia, low inland, 9a. *Green Dreams* a good place, for us distant, to get Florida avo *trees.* Have maybe half of those recommended in vid, availability variable. (no affiliation, just few good online multi plant orders, healthy plants at good prices, affordable shipping)

Although the flavor is a little sweet, Lula has always reminded me of a California avocado. Cons: big seed, thick skin that doesn't peel off, very large tree, alternate bearing? Pluses: VERY LONG season, which can last from October to January, dense texture, flavor. I have a Simmonds tree, and I, too, like it for late summer, BUT it's not in the same league as a California avocado (Hass, Fuerte, Reed, Sharwil, Gwen, Pinkerton, even Bacon)--lacks the oil. The richest flavored Florida avocado from my experience has been Oro Negro. I've never tasted Dupuis, Lolo (aka Tito), or Kampong, but I'd like to!

What I don’t understand is that out the many varieties mentioned, Ooh La La (AKA - Super Hass) wasn’t even one of them, yet it’s widely considered to be amongst the best oily avocado varieties to grow in Florida. Supposedly, it was originally a seedling from the Hass variety that had superior qualities.

I have one about 5 yrs in the ground from 15gal tree, farther NorCali, low inland, 9a. Fruited a few, 1st time this season and promptly dropped 'em like all but one of my young avos this season. High expectations tho. Both my Wurz and Reed grew too dense and top heavy, foolishly delayed modestly topping and trimming Reed (didn't want to hurt my baby!) but did so the Wurz....big storm OTW, soaked foliage plus high winds snapped Reed near base, nearly dead baby, lol, growing strong but from below graft, junk until grafted again. Wurz stood (couple yrs ago), needs a little more trimming now and every yr. *DO NOT hesitate to prune an avo!* If they look topheavy and/or overlapping, over grown, whack in half gangly limbs, or growing into pathways, etc. I have to top all of my strongest growers, around a dozen in the ground, most w multiple trunks, repeatedly to keep stout. Do it thoughtfully but don't let them break the main trunk in a modest storm. They shrug of heavy pruning. (or stake it or whatever it takes but at some point must be pruned fairly hard in *my novice* experience) (((pardon long winded post, thank me later ;-)))

Hey Paul, I don’t follow your other channels but I have a quick question. My wife is currently pregnant and is having a hard time holding down any food but fruit. Per ChatGPT, Tropical fruits generally have lower protein content compared to other food groups, but some have relatively higher amounts than others. The tropical fruits with the most protein include: 1. **Guava**: One of the highest protein tropical fruits, containing about 4.2 grams of protein per cup (165g). 2. **Durian**: This unique fruit has around 3.6 grams of protein per cup (243g). 3. **Jackfruit**: Provides approximately 2.8 grams of protein per cup (165g). 4. **Passion Fruit**: Contains about 5.1 grams of protein per cup (236g). 5. **Avocado**: While technically a fruit, it has about 3 grams of protein per cup (150g). These fruits can be a good source of protein in a fruit-based diet, but for higher protein needs, it's essential to include other sources such as legumes, nuts, and seeds.
