My favorite box! Nice video I like a lot the presets management in combination with sound pool for quick sound locks

You mentioned the Octatrack - can you notice a difference in sound quality? Would you use both together? Love my Octatrack and not sure whether to get the Digitakt 2 … thanks so much and great to hear your insights.

I haven’t compared them side by side, but I don’t think either unit sounds bad or lacking in anyway. I’d be happy to use both together if I had a need to.

I believe you can hold the FUNC button and select tracks to simultaneously mute or unmute the selected tracks (when releasing the FUNC button), just like the Analog Rytm. That is something I really missed on the DT MK1. I don't have a Digitakt currently, but together with some things you mentioned in the video, that would be something for which I would buy the DT2.
@tarekith8 сағат бұрын
Yes, you can do that on the DT2, I use it all the time as well.

@@tarekith Great to hear! I just bought an Octatrack, so I will first have to save again, but good to know. 👍

the Master approves 😌 Elektron being "a little bit cheaper" might be a bit cocky but the other Swedes took it away..

I wasn’t even thinking about TE, there’s lots of groove boxes and such for live use that cost a lot more. MPC Studio, MV8000, ARMKII, OT, etc. Heck my MC505 was almost $1500 back in the day.

would a DT2 work for 'live sampling' performance situation, like sampling phrases from a modular or efx send, then looping and live mangling/remixing? Or is the sampling process a bit too involved to be able to stay in the flow of a live groove? I'm tying to decide on it vs a modular sampler like the morphogene or squid sampler or something like that.
@tarekith8 сағат бұрын
There's a way to do it, but yeah it's probably more involved than most people would want for that kind of thing. The Octatrack would excel for that though!

I only use the DT1 but you can, while the sequencer is running, enter the sampling page > sample your ext source > assign it to a track > place trigs all in one 'flow'. It's pretty clunky but with some practice it can be pretty quickly and smooth and but it is nothing like sampling on the OT

Wait what happened to the gigantinc speakers from yesteryear?
@tarekith8 сағат бұрын
I needed a change. Amazing speakers, but I got tired after 12 years of having these massive blocks of wood towering over me all the time. Wanted to make the studio more open feeling and less oppressive. Sounds weird I know, but it was really starting to get to me. :) The Barefoot Footprint 01's are pretty sweet though, they'll hold me over until I find something better.

So now that the DT2 has bigger storage/RAM how well does it handle longer loops vs one shots?
@tarekith3 сағат бұрын
I think you're still limited to a 60 second samples if I remember right (don't quote me), so you can't stream minutes long samples or anything like that. OT is still the king of that kind of thing.

A sampler in 2025 where you can't pick the start and end points of chops?!?!?, mindblowing. Trying to help a friend get into using his, the more I learn about it the more I scratch my head.

This has always been the reason for getting an Octatrack instead of a Digitakt 👍 Apart from that one aspect, it’s a really creative machine. Parameter locks 😉

Sold the MC-707 ? I'm probing the power of the Elektron sequencer and conditional trigs to not only play the notes, but sequence and modify the Zen-Core engine in real time (through Knob CCs triggering Sys-CTRL 1-4). Sounds promising. Only two boxes.
