I switched to the cup plus the underwear after watching these videos about 6 months ago. It's saved me so much money, so much stress (the only thing I get stressed about is washing the underwear as I don't have a washing machine in my flat yet) and I feel so much more comfortable. I also love not worrying about running out too. Being caught short was the worst
@Lolly740792 жыл бұрын
@Liz Gabriel Period underwear might be a good idea. Black pairs fully pass as regular underwear with a slightly different fabric so they can be thrown in with regular dark washing (at least my Primark ones can). If you buy them from a physical store like Primark, you can easily buy them while out with friends instead of having a parcel intercepted. You can also pair either a light or heavy flow pair with pads on heavy days if you want to reduce waste but also need to keep appearances up if she buys supplies for you. EDIT: You're not supposed to use fabric conditioner with period underwear, I think it either wears them down quicker or ruins them. I'm not really sure which I'm really sorry you had that awful reaction. I know some people don't like the idea of the reuseable pads due them finding the idea of having to store the used pads in their bag (one of the reasons I didn't pick them actually) or rinsing them, but calling another person disgusting for using them is completely different and horrible.
@lydiajoystuart40822 жыл бұрын
@Liz Gabriel I would also recommend period underwear. I haven't used them personally but my female best friend swears by them. They are easier to use and I believe can be washed in a washing machine. There are a couple different brands out there. I'd encourage you to do some research. I am so sorry to hear that you were having such a bad experience. That's really tough. It's hard to hear criticism from loved ones. Also don't be discouraged about not being able to use a cup I’ve never worn a tampon and I tried to make the cup work and it didnt work.
@caitlindekker30882 жыл бұрын
@@Lolly74079 I recently watched a tik tok saying if you can help it, don't use fabric conditioner/softener ever. But more importantly never to use it with workout and other clothes because it takes away the absorbing aspect which is definitely why you wouldn't want to use it with a period product.

Some of the supermarkets in my town started making bundles of fruit or veggies that are very ripe, a bit beaten up or have a few brown spots, they put them in a bag in the reduced section and it's a good adea i think, better than doing nothing. You can get a huge bag of mixed fruit or veggies at a low price, and i use the fruits that are very ripe in baking or chop them up and freeze them. Same for veggies, if I don't use them up i freeze them. My country is quite behind on the sustainability stuff, we're barely just figuring out sorting our trash. But at least it's a step.

It's pretty common in other countries (e.g. countries in northern Africa) in public toilets especially. I got it online, but you can also DIY by stopping at a local hardware store. It's awesome because you can control the spray and flow very easily. So that's another option in case bidets have too little control for you haha. I also use "family cloth" instead of TP. And it's pretty hygienic considering I spray off beforehand. So I highly recommend that as well. :)

If you start to make the conversion before completely running out, you can try the change and/ or new product then make adaptations before complete,y running out. Sliding into a change often let's you slide into financial and effort/ labor/ behavioral changes too. When you find an alternative you're happy with committing to fully, you can gift what you prefer to nolonger use rather than tossing too.

My lunch bag every work day for a 12 hour day: two Mason jars filled with water, an apple, a ceramic mug, single size french press, two tiny containers with my plant based coffee creamer and my ground coffee, lidded container with lunch food, a container with berries or grapes, and fork/spoon/knife from the kitchen drawer. A lot, yes, but I bring everything home and wash it at night and refill for work the next day. I NEVER take disposables. This has been a financial and ethical game changer for me.

It's only available in a few cities but Local MilkRun has been amazing! Seasonal, local, and you are supporting local farmers.

And remember not to order a bunch of things to be shipped to your house... because even if you order items that are good for the planet having them shipped is not. I had Chico bags but they snagged a bunch and wore thin quickly so I replaced them with Blu Bags from RockFlower... after about 15 years I had to re-stitche a seam. I wash them after each use and they still hold well. They are a bit bigger that Chico grocery bags they are almost the size of the Vita bag. Just a better size and more useful overall.

16:09 NIMBLE. I wish they sent to the UK!!! I've been without my power bank for over a year now cause it died... Wanna get an eco one. Hopefully they send over to the UK at some point, and I hope they have an easily repairable one by then 👀 Maybe modular like Fairphone's phones. Where u can pop the battery out🔋

I've never heard of Plaine - that's brilliant! Especially for someone who can't find a good conditioner bar

My grandma is from Chico and she was in love with the Chico bags, like she has so many of them and I somehow ended up with two that I love because I also think of her when I use them. I also got the Hey Humans toothpaste because of you, and this is weird to say but the tube is very satisfying.

Could you do a video on secondhand shopping? Like your best tips and tricks? I am always on the hunt for certain items and it can be very time consuming

I always throw a knife and fork (and spoon if I need it) from my silverware drawer into my lunch bag every day. At the end of the day I wash them and all of the containers. It's an easy swap and all I have to do is keep track of my shit.

Your channel has really started me on an eco-friendly kick. So appreciate all the work you've already done figuring out sustainable options, so I don't have to spend 10 years figuring it out myself! I've bookmarked "who gives a crap" to try out their TP once we use up what we already have from Costco. ;P

For the toothpaste tube, I don't quite understand how they are recyclable. In my area, you are supposed to clean out the containers before recycling. Is that possible with a fully aluminum toothpaste tube? How does one do that? I'm asking to know, I try to recycle as much as possible, so I am open to it. I'm just curious how that actually is supposed to work with a toothpaste tube.

My favorite planner is a Rocket Book. It's reusable including the paper. It's like a notebook and dry erase board in one.

I know you're probably crazy busy, but I recently watched "What the Health" and it makes me question what charities I should even be donating to since some are so corrupt with their list of sponsors. I would love to see a "donating to charity swap" like Avoid American Heart association, instead donate to ... side note: love your content!

There are a few organizations that review charities like Charity Navigator. Usually smaller local charities do more good (use the money/resources donated more efficiently) than huge national or international charities.

Okay first, your hair is gorgeous. Looove using stuff I already have! I reused a medicine bottle to store my laundry coins (it broke today, but it has the best lid type, so I taped it, and good as new haha). Yes, PELA! Their liquid screen protector is also gold! Also, I mostly hang dry my clothes - the only time my clothes go in the dryer is with my sheets and towels.

I recently received the best notebook gift. Rocket book has changed my life. It is reusable, you use the pen and when you are done with that page you use the app send it off to wherever you need to (lots of options you can preset) and then you dampen the cloth and wipe it away

If you're in the UK, there's a company called Smol who do low waste laundry pods, dishwasher pods etc. I only use the laundry ones and I find them just as good as anything I've used from a shop

i don’t understand why people hate single bananas so much. i love them. you can pick the size and ripeness and number you want, instead of having to go with what’s in the bundle 🤷🏼♀️ i am always picking the singles!

Could you please do an honest review / cycle of use of Pela's Lomi compost bin? The ads I've seen make it look interesting, but I have no idea what it actually is like, what the compost looks like, how long it takes to reach garden ready, etc
@raesans74072 жыл бұрын
I love the idea of the Lomi! But that price sis!!! I get the company’s goal of having one in each kitchen, but at that price even most Americans won’t be able to afford it. I love your videos!
