Extremely interesting video. Great channel. Your presentation is second to none. So smooth and you know exactly what you a talking about. I could learn a lot from you. One of my favourite bands.

Hi Chris thanks for posting another brilliant video although I know literally nothing about most of what you showcase here obviously rainbow and a couple of others never really listened to much but I must have a fantastic rest of your week until the next video STEVE

Hi Chris, fantastic work. Your Deep Purple family tree collection is so good. there is a lot of homework there for me with the early stuff, and agree with your top two choices, although Glory Road does run Mr Universe close for me.
@TheVinylOrchardАй бұрын
Glory Road is very good but Mr Universe is just brilliant. Cheers Steve.

It looks like I've got some new stuff to listen to you tonight, cheers for doing this. I've seen Elf and Deep Purple mk 3 and Whitesnake and Joe Satarini but Captain Beyond and Warhorse I'm not familiar with. I love Tommy Bolin, he died much too young. I think Ian Gillan sang on a Black Sabbath album too. What an interesting family tree Purple has. You should do a few more of these. Looking forward to your next video On a side note do you have the album The Intergalactic Touring Band? It was a science fiction concept album with at least two dozen different musicians and singers
@TheVinylOrchardАй бұрын
Gillan sang with BS on one Lp. Born Again. I have it but I’m not much of a fan tbh. Will check out your recommendation Tim Cheers my friend, Chris

Intend also at some time to do a video on Tommy Bolin and a DP live albums one too. Cheers

A great overview. I was surprised that "Coverdale Page" did not make an appearance. Its pretty good. I have been following Deep Purple for over 50 years but never heard of "Northwinds" till today. Never seen it in my 40 years in North America on any format. A review of Discogs shows that it was simply not released this side of the Atlantic. Any ideas why?
@TheVinylOrchardАй бұрын
Not much of a fan of Coverdale Page. His voice sounds very strained. Some songs from Northwinds came out in a North American album called Snakebite This is my favourite song from Northwinds kzbin.info/www/bejne/d16xamCFr7Ccmtksi=Xkx8pEqC6YcR9kuf Beautiful vocal performance Cheers Tim

Hi Chris, I'm late to the party again. I never realised there were so many ex Purple members that had released solo albums. Though not a fan of Deep Purple, I can understand why so many people like them. I haven't heard a great deal by them, but what I have heard, is quite impressive, but a lot is not for me. I think I need to do a bit of catching up. My eldest daughter is a big fan of Coverdale, but I'm not sure if it's for his singing prowess. This video was quite an eye opener for me. Cheers.

I knew steve Morse was replaced, but i hadn't even heard the new guys name.I've long been interested in Teaser, but i had the second album Private Eyes and i didn't like it so it's kept me away. I remember when the 2-cd of Rising came out i thought i don't need a bunch of different mixes and didn't buy it. Actually i'd be interested to know why Joe Walsh left James Gang because the only thing i've heard is that he felt over burdened by writing the songs for the band. Well how do you get to write less songs if you go solo? It took me ages before i heard that Rod Evans had done music after leaving Deep Purple, still not heard anything by Captain Beyond. Warhorse is a good album, but not exceptional. Pasi
@TheVinylOrchardАй бұрын
The first Captain Beyond Lp is decent. Teaser is better than Private Eyes which I also like. I think the reason people didn’t like it is because they were expecting guitar heroics. It’s more about the songs. The Tommy Bolin version of James Gang was the best version for me. The best songs. From another time is tremendous song. Cheers Pasi, Chris
