I remember Witch Hunter Robin I was just thinking of that scene where a swordsman slaughtered a bunch of people forcing people or beast to prize fight. Was that in Witch Hunter Robin or another series I’m not so sure?! I thought about WHR because I’m playing Hogwarts Legacy on PS5 and I just did the Fire & Ice Mission which made me wanna massacre a room full of evil witches and wizards forcing dragons 🐉 to fight each other to the death!

I commented already before but I gotta say I wholeheartedly agree the team should be aged up, not just Amon lol like he's babysitting these guys!! I legitimately thought Robin was in her 20s back then, when I couldn't watch the show but would see early Google pics of the show in 2000s. I was shocked she's just 15 when I finally watched the show. I think I would've been shocked if the show went for the whole Robin/Amon thing if I saw it originally back in 2000s. It was already creepy when that lady in the attorney's office keeps referring to Robin as Nagira's lover like💀💀 So yeah age them all up if there's ever a remake.

This and ergo proxy are two of my favorite anime. The atmosphere, mature tone, music, subtle characterization...it's a lost art form with anime I think
@foregroundeclipse872511 ай бұрын
@MrInuhanyou123 Most definitely. Older Anime was more experimental and took more risks writting more dark or unique stories in my opinion. The artist of Ergo Proxy did artwork for the Anime movie called Genocidal Organ . It has been awhile though. I think Genocidal Organ the Anime film came out in 2018. Now it's 2024. I hope the artist of Ergo Proxy and the team of Witch Hunter Robin come back to do Anime again .
I watched this because Ergo Proxy is my favorite and saw it had the same director. While I know it's very flawed, it's essence resonated with me a lot regardless.

It wasn't toonami it was adult swim. Adult swim turned into toonami so toonami was back in the day when I was about four or five years old back in 1995 and 1996. That went on for a long time they would show Sailor Moon hamtaro and other Japanese anime that was geared towards children not adult. Fast-forward to the early 2000s and adult swim took over showing anime on cartoon Network that they started doing that at night they didn't do that during the day obviously. And at some point within the 2000's I'm not sure when but it was not the early 2000s that's when they changed their segments of anime and put it under toonami the name to honor us kids from the 90s he used to watch it. But the sad thing is they went from showing anime at any random times during the adult swim slot all the way to pushing it between 12 or 1 in the morning until 3 or 4 which none of us was up at that time unless you actually didn't have a job lol There's like a whole thing I remember all of it I used to love watching Sailor Moon when I was 5 My grandmother used to record it on the VHS tapes for me. and I would actually buy the bootlegs down in Chinatown cuz I lived in New York so it was really easy for me to get that stuff.

I was a little girl when this anime premiered 20 years ago. Back then, it was too edgy and deep for me to understand that I decided not to watch it entirely. I just memorized the opening and ending songs like what I usually do with anime back in those days. I kept WHR at the backburner of my mind for nearly two decades until last year. Thats when I decided to watch the series in its entirety and I was blown away by the beauty of the philosophy and significance of every episode. Just like when I watched Psycho-Pass, I decided to write an essay for every episode of WHR.

Oddly enough, not having watched it for so long, I thought they all were in their 20s, and younger me blotted out the whole, "Fallen Gods," component of witches. I was hoping to find a react, but found people who only like some aspects of the show, but don't seem to really be fans of the show itself...and the video that showed Robin in the OP was rotoscoped Madonna. I think it's a shame the story was never continued. Robin's story could have stood to be allowed to grow up. Not to mention all the sexual tension between her and Amon. Robin's supposed to be the Eve or Queen of Witches. She needs a husband who can keep up with her. Also, just to note, I know about what most of the magic circles mean. Robin's character resonated with me because she was my age. I dived deep into her doing research on magic and historical context. Precious Illusions is my favorite episode.

Heck yeah witch hunter Robin, Big O there's like so many good anime that was on adult swim back in the day that so many people don't know about right now. I started watching anime when I was 4 years old and my love for anime kind of just exploded from their starting with Sailor Moon and then hamtaro & tenchi muyo there was just so much anime that I was exposed to as a kid do to living in New York which I think is the reason why I got into anime at such a young age because there's nowhere else in the United States that would have had all of the amount of stuff that I was exposed to other than California. Any place that had a Chinatown probably had a lot of anime bootlegs and that's where I got my entire Inuyasha DVD collection set in Chinese sub and Japanese dub lol 😂😂😂. I did not understand anything they were saying but I was happy to see it lol. Nowadays it's so incredibly easy to get your hands on anime I can't believe it I love it this is definitely the time for otaku's to be alive that's for sure. I will say though that comes with a con because with the fact that you can easily get anime that's just being dumped out of Japan you can also have a harder time finding the good anime that's out there they unique anime not the rinse wash repeat cookie-cutter animes. I love anime still but I'm at the point in my life where I've seen the same plot so many times that I kind of don't even bother looking at new anime anymore because it's all the same bulshit there's nothing new there's nothing fresh. Violet evergarden and ascendance of a bookworm those were pretty unique in a sense styled anime, you don't see that type of plot line being used much right now and it was its own thing it wasn't trying to mimic any other anime and I just feel like there's a lot of enemy out there right now that's kind of just cookie cutter-ing (is that a word) to get into mainstream and be popular. No offense to any of the anime coming out and no offense to the people who like it I don't mind whatsoever it's just for me personally as someone who's seen it all honestly I just really wish I could find more unique styled animes that kind of drum to their own beat and recreations of the same thing as same plot line being used over and over. I'm sure there's great enemy out there within the anime that I would end up looking over and missing completely it's just I'm older I'm busy I have kids I don't really have a lot of time to like look over every anime and see what's unique about it if it's got the same plot line I'm not really interested. Meanwhile my husband watches everything that comes out every season he's always ready for the new stuff lol 😂😂😂😂.

Unlike many I was unable to see this show even though it was on cable on my side of the globe. Thanks to the fact we have the net now I managed to finally see this show! I have my own theories but well said about the negatives of this show: it's slow paced mostly and that negatively impacted its final episode a lot. The minor plots of the other characters weren't as fleshed out particularly Doujima's And I can tell there's this world building the show wanted to go for, but since it's so focused on the main plot and being poorly paced (or because they only have 26 episodes) I just don't understand how Solomon, witches and hunters are still not out there in public, when their activities can get quite destructive. Like I get Solomon acts like the SCP org but how do they keep these things under wraps? And the abrupt ending?? I don't know, I get we're supposed to have an inference as to what could possibly have happened to Robin and Amon, but I feel like there isn't enough especially with the run time and poor pace of the final episode. Not to mention the non-closure between the only romantic couple confirmed, between Amon and Toko. And the thing is, they were already in the midst of breaking up during the series! Toko and Amon are never given the chance to see one another and finally just make up and close the book.💔 That's not to say I hated this show. I actually found this so refreshing, especially with certain mature shonen-like shows today. I like how a lot of female characters are not only just active but no one among the females are sexualized or objectified. It's obvious the sexy one in this series is Amon lol Robin's character is well handled despite lore and writing inconsistencies. Not only is her journey reflective of the core themes the show is telling us, but overall she's a very believable teenager. And even more significantly is the fact she's quiet and reserved! Quiet characters are 50/50 in media, where it can be a good depiction or a stereotype. But this show gives us an example that quiet characters can be nuanced, powerful and magnetic, which is amazing. And despite the poor or slow pace, the show at least shed light to many of its supporting cast! It may not be so much of the finer details of how they got to where they are, but when the spotlight is on them, the show wastes no time in showing us who and what these characters can do. And the animation? It's not perfect BUT there is an almost great consistency when it came to their movements! It definitely picks up when for action scenes and a lot of them move with a grace that's almost movie-level. A good show. I do wish there was more. I wished it was at least 30 episodes so things weren't left awkwardly hanging like that.

@Tara Natalia I'm a bit late to the party, I didn't start getting into older Anime until my highschool years. Alot of my first Anime were more of the mainstream unfortunately, which isn't bad but it limited my experience on what Anime could be or what stories it told. I'm currently in the middle of Witch Hunter Robin and I like it alot. I was born in 2001 so at the time all that was talked about was Sailor moon or Dragon Ball Z. Sadly hidden gems like Witch Hunter Robin , Ergo Proxy, Texhnolyze, Now and Then, Here and There, Gunslinger Girl, Key The Metal Idol, All the Gundam series, Legend Of The Galatic Heros, Jin-Roh, Angel's Egg, Rahxephon, Rainbow Rokubou No Shichinin, Casshern Sins, Vampire Hunter D BloodLust and much more slipped my radar as a little kid. Now as an adult, I grately appreciate older Anime more than ever . I honestly prefer older Anime, because alot of my favorites are from that era of Anime.

Hello Tara Natalia! I think Witch Hunter R[obin was quite well known when it was broadcast in Japan and then rebroadcast in the US. I think it was carried on Adult swim. It was a wonderful show . it was before Farce book and most of the Social Media that are big now. A lot of people were doing fan fics and there was even a big Fan club for english speakers called Usuyami no Sekai - Lost In A World Of Darkness.. It was a fun club and a lot of great writers were there. Doing thier own chapters of Robin stories as well as other fiction some was very good and most was entertaining short mysteries with a few Hawt scenes it lasted about 3 years then faded because the show was off the air but also because the website carrier started charging money so that was a death nell for the club but it was fun while it lasted.

I haven´t een the anime since I bought it (yes, I also bought the Special Edition book). Have no idea what made me decide to so since I never watched the anime when it aired. Probably because back in the early 2000´s I was starting to get into anime and there wasn´t many available. Didn´t regret it though. LOVE the concept, the designs, the characters, the music and, above all, the atmosphere and music. A shame they didn´t continue to do more series like this (anime that was created as not based on manga or light novels). Are there any more anime like this that anyone can recommend? Either in terms of atmosphere/concept or the fact that it is just an anime. By the way, REALLY hate that anime these days have to be 12 episodes (Seasons more less entire series). I´m not saying they have to be extremely long (like the original DBZ, One Piece or so...). But series with 24-26 episodes are PERFECT. It´s enough to be delevoped and tell an entire story while, once it ends (as everything) you just go back and watch it again.

Don't you mean you never heard of her. I used to be a regular watcher when it was on midnight swim or SYFY I can't rememkber which I was even a member of a WHR fan club.which was fun. The club head several members who did WHR or other fanfiction and some of them where very good writers. Anyway WHR was and still is a great show.

Heard of it, seen it in it's entirety. Love the soundtrack, love the vibe, think the plot is mostly "Meh" especially after the mid-series twist instantly reverts to a status quo.

It was great on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. The best episode was the April fools episode! I loved Inuyasha and Detecive Conan. I liked Cowboy Bebop as well.

Ha, good call on they probably should be alcoholics (stressed office workers?) but aren't shown drinking much.
