Here is a list of channels who've discussed this wonderful piece. Go support them! Also, I found this at Heinnie Haynes UK. So if you want one, check there, first. Also, I'm curious to anyone who has this knife, was the spring THIS strong? #BritishBlades

I do like the Wright’s knives more and more. Ashley is the production manager, and their main maker. He does the one offs in his own time. Wright’s knives used to have really poor quality control , but since the Harrison’s took over, there’s been a dramatic improvement! Sharpness still remains an issue though. I think that, at this level, Wright’s make better carry knives, but Taylor’s make better users… in my opinion!

I like the style of Wrights better than Taylor's. But Taylor seems to make better premium knives in my opinion. I am addicted to these knives. Particulary, the Ettrick. Of which I have two on the way.

Open the knife, turn it upside down, and round off the corner of the tang with a square needle file. A bit at a time as this corner also controls the snap. This will ease off the Spinal Tap levels of pull. I received the same, with same stamp, and level of pull from Heinne Haynes winter sale. I'd agree. The pull is a step too much and I suspect the general public might let them know via the number of returns. "But for a ha'peth of tar' as they used to say. Mine is not as well finished as yours by a long chalk, a reject that got through to be honest, but I wanted to mod it anyway, so it didn't matter at the silly cheap price. The basic hand-built construction was bombproof. It was funny you comparing it to a Boker, as that is the mod I've done. It's now a lookie like Boker. The real Boker Barlow I have is a little too small for me.

I'm not sure I'll mess with it, but hey, If the pull is that tough, I may have to.

@@TheKnifeRaven if its going to be a user there's no harm in tuning the action to your own preference, but I can understand you leaving it alone if it's for 'specimen' purposes. Imagine someone unused to nail nicks trying to open the thing. Bandaid's at the ready!

I have one. Over time and use, the pull did smooth out for me and has become more manageable. Hopefully yours will too. I love them. A lotta bang for the buck. Thank you

Nice review 👌 just got mine from HH here in the UK. As you said - excessive backspring strength. Good knife though, for the price.

As a Canadian, I am having issues with Canada Border Services and getting knives through from the US. Do you have issues getting this and other knives from the UK? Great review and great knife. For that price I would consider getting one. Let me know about your experiences getting knives in from the UK. Thanks.

I have never had any issues with getting knives from the UK. Granted, almost every knife I've bought from the UK is a slipjoint. However, I had a knife seized from the US. Apparently they've tightened their grip on importing knives of almost any type. However, slipjoints still seem okay. To answer your question, I can't be sure you won't have issues, but it's less likely if you're buying non-lockers. Modern knives, lockbacks, and ANY kind of Assisted open will likely be held when they wouldn't have been before. I don't think there's a new law, however. Sorry if this is choppy, I just woke up! Cheers!

@@alexdetrojan4534 My pleasure! I'm pretty sure they're "seizing most knives to prevent a prohibited model from passing through". But with slipjoints, even our Border Agents can't deny...THEY'RE TOOLS! 😅 Cheers!

Sheffield knife makers know a thing or two about making good pocket knives. I don't have an Arthur Wright.....yet....but I'm going to get one. My first English made barlow is a Taylor's Eye Witness with the burnished stainless bolsters. The English makers typically put very strong back springs in all their Barlows because the British Government is anal about locking knives. I like strong back springs. First chance I get, I'm going to buy a Wright barlow in carbon steel with either buffalo or stag handles. For the quality, I think these knives are reasonably priced.
