I really enjoyed hearing about your top ten books, Gavin, and your honorable mentions as well. I'm still working mine out. I do love that Ray Bradbury and Arthur C. Clark made your list.

Thanks Gavin. You have returned me to my teen years when I devoured science fiction. The Martian Chronicles, Flowers for Algernon, Childhood’s End… they were all faves… long overdue for rereading.

And here I am, only just having got around to them!

@ It doesn’t matter when a book is published. If you read it and love it, that’s something to celebrate!

Thank you Gavin for your unique delivery and content. You are one of my top 10 booktubers in 2024. I look forward to continuing to follow you and enjoy your deadpan humor in 2025. I also read Childhood's End this year and it was headed for my #1 Sci Fi spot. But it just knocked down by a book I read this week. Have you read Farewell, Earth's Bliss? If you have, what did you think? If you haven't, you might keep an eye out for it. I think it would be a good fit for you.

Many thanks! I’ve not read Compton, but I do have a copy of “The Steel Crocodile”, so maybe I can give that a whirl until the book-buying-ban is over!

I love The Martian Chronicles. I also read it in 2024. Roadside Picnic and City are on my list to read in the future and after watching this I’m going to add The Question Mark as well.

Roadside Picnic made my top ten last year, it's a belter. I need to get more of their stuff. I liked the film The Natural, never heard about the book before. Love Flowers for Algernon, that is due a re-read for me. I really enjoyed Star Maker by Olaf Stapledon, read it many years ago though.

Nice. Let me know what Srrugatsky you get: I have a bunch of them if you’re up for another buddy read next year…

If I ever return to Bradbury it may be Martian Chronicles which I have never read. Good video. I intend a top 10 list on or after Christmas.

Interesting list. One book I read as a kid and again recently that I guess would fit in the hollow earth área is Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne. Another book I read as a kid and really liked is The Martian Chronicles

Thanks Stuart. Verne is very much on my list for the coming year!

The Natural is one of my favorite films but I had no idea it was based on a novel.

Bradbury and Simak, along with Theodore Sturgeon are the great humanists of science fiction!
