The ink miser is also great to use when you have a small mouth ink bottle like Ferris wheel press. Some of their bottle openings are so small I cannot get a nib into it to fill. So I just pour the ink into the miser and it makes life so much easier

Yes to this!!! Those FWP bottles, while beautiful, are just disasters waiting to happen!

Good morning Karyna. Happy Mother’s Day!! I had never thought of using the blotting paper to keep the oils of the skin off the paper as you write. It makes sense because so many things react poorly to that. A blunt syringe is a must as well as a bulb syringe. Not needed but is very handy. A shim really helps especially if you use shimmering inks or high sheen inks, or like you said paper fibers. Whoever created the ink miser is a genius. I purchase one after using the one that is included in the TWSBI ink well. But I didn’t want to keep taking that one out of an ink well full of a different ink. Definitely worth the few bucks in my opinion. I’ve been using the Col-O-Rings for ink swatching/swabbing for years. But in a recent purchase I ordered the swatch cards you use. I think I might like them a bit better. The ink sample vial holder is always a good idea. I made one out of Legos. I have the Esterbrook pen case/cup. I really like it for my desk. Rickshaw pen cases see the most travel action. I have a Galen Leather pen case and one of their notebook folios. Have a wonderful day!!

Thank you Courtney! Yes, all of these are so helpful. Not “needed” per se, but they have been so helpful in the hobby for me! Have a great day!

Ink miser is a must-have for me, so I can prevent any contaminants from my ink in the bottle. I never ink up straight from the bottle. Second choice, ink syringe, you've explained thoroughly. Last, my 3-4 pen Galen pen cases, in Crazy Horse Brown & Undyed, which make up my 7 active pen set up.

I literally lol'd when you tapped that ink vial while it was in the wooden holder and it was like, "push me again! I dare you" and it didn't spill over. That was funny and definitely proved your point! I don't know if my 7 vial holder is stable enough but I didn't have any accidents while filming so I'm happy with mine xD I still need to invest in an ink meiser...my Visconti Vac fillers are crying for me.

Hi Karyna! You are a bad influence on my fountain pen wishlist!!! I really enjoy watching your videos. And I have a question for you - when you use a stamp for your ink swatches, what ink do you use or like? I use the TRP as well and stamp pads are not kind to it. Thank you and have a blessed week! - Rena

Thank you for an excellent video. I appreciate you explaining the brass piece. Penchalet sent me one but I thought it had something to do with the wax seals. I love your accessories. A bulb syringe (ear/nose syringe when searching Amazon) is another great idea for pen flushing (not mine, from Mr. B. Goulet). The cone extending from the bulb gives a tight seal while allowing it to fit most pens. (Fits all mine, but I’m sure there’s pens it might not). Have you tried a TWSBI diamond 50 inkwell? It comes with the ink miser and has other features. What’s your favorite pen rest, the Esterbrook turtle is serene? Have you tried blotter paper as a bookmark, I started using it as a bookmark to help remind me to avoid smudging? The ink sample vials also double as nib holders for extra nibs. I am hunting for something and haven’t seen anyone with a great idea to store fountain pen ink bottles. Most need to be stored in a way that one can read the front but still have access to each of them without having to rearrange everything to retrieve one bottle. Cheers and thanks again for sharing your journey with us.

Thank you for these! I do use the blotting paper as a bookmark and I love it! I store my ink bottles in an IKEA Kallax shelf drawer so I access them top down, if that makes sense?

Great video! I picked up an old apothecary cabinet to store my ink bottles. Where do you keep your bottles and how do you store your samples?

I have an IKEA KALLAX shelf with drawers so one drawer houses the bottles and the other drawer has the samples in a holder from Pen Chalet. Although any “overage” of samples is in an IKEA small storage bin. 😂
