I liked the fact you showed the full extent on your culinary experience in making this, as a person that likes to ferment my own drinks, it is helpful to see mistakes during your process, keep that aspect in your videos always.

I enjoyed hearing about your childhood memories. Well done video that shows your natural style.😊 I remember my first taste of this drink after a dinner in a Korean restaurant. It was very refreshing and I liked the taste of the plumped up rice grains.

I hope its not odd for me to say but I find you and your videos so charming and cozy. Love hearing your voice and seeing what experiments you do.

Shikhye is also one of my favorites from childhood!! I still buy the box of Paldo canned Shikhye often at my local Korean store. Thank you for making this video!

I know what happened...If the malt powder is non-diastatic it won't release the sugar from the rice, because all the enzymes have been killed in the heating process. The diastatic malt powder is still having the enzymes. The diastatic is obtained by heating the sprouted grains at max 40 Celsius, while the non-diastatic at 90.

I hadn't heard of this before but it was a fascinating video and it sounds delicious! (Also totally agree about cheap rice cookers, my £20 rice cooker was absolutely the best kitchen investment I made in a years, simple but works perfectly every time.)

I've made this a few times many years ago and it was really good. I had a lot of floating rice. You're right, the store bought stuff is not as good, at all. Can barely taste the malt. Just tasted sweet imo. You've brought me back down memory lane as well.

I love how anti-extra rice bit you were there at the end xD I'll definitely try this, I haven't had a malted drink like this before but it sounds pretty tasty snd easy to do! Do you think the rice didn't float because of the kind of rice it is? i'm glad it didnt affect the taste, but i'm just curious to know what may have caused the rice to only puff.

I wonder if you could make mochi with the leftover rice... I know it would taste a bit different, but it could end up as an interesting sweet dish.

Hello! Maybe 15 years ago I had a Korean dentist and in his waiting room he had a machine that made a little frothy, warm and so good drink! I wish I remembered the name of the drink it made….sorry it’s a vague description but would you be able to know? I found this video thinking this drink might be it!

Can you use malted barely as a substitute for nuruk? It's almost kind of the same thing right?

The best drink. Store bought taste like shit except there is one brand thats good because its basically old school "hand" made by Pulmuone? But its kind of expensive but its worth it. Every other brand i tried taste REALLY bad
