Awesome video, and great tip about witness marking the screws with paint. A very good idea! I was resistant to holosun optics when they first came out, now there isn't anything else I want. 😂 You may not believe me, that I sent the idea for the "IRIS" system to holosun, and things are about to become very upsetting for US optic companies (if they aren't butt hurt already) The weapon light with a camera that transmits a image to the optic was an idea I sent them. (If major US companies responded to emails or offered money I would not have sent the concept to holosun) They now have thermal and night vision capabilities in a handgun red dot. That fact is known already, as holosun made a video explaining it, but there is a important part of the IRIS they haven't told anyone.... And that is a extremely beefy and powerful gyroscopic image stabilizer for the weapon camera mounted to the dust cover of the pistol.... Who cares right??? 😅 It's designed to counteract recoil.... That's the genius of it. The next part is that shaky hands or movement may in the future, change the circle reticle in size. This means, you have instant visual feedback about hit probability. I would have greatfully given the idea exclusively to anyone who acknowledged me or offered me any money, but no one did. So I told holosun and they listened.

EPS on my M&P 3.6 pcompact and EPS carry on wife's P365X. I had an issue with mine where, under recoil, the battery tray screw was walking out and the battery tray was sticking out almost half way. I only noticed this because the dot suddenly disappeared. I had used blue loctite on the screw so i replaced the screw with an after market one and no problems since.
@CobraDBlade3 ай бұрын
Lots of good points there. I'll probably look into picking one up as my next pistol optic. Currently I have a 507 with the ACSS reticle since it was my first pistol optic and I figured it would help speed up the acclimation/training process to shooting with a dot.
@PolenarTactical3 ай бұрын

@CobraDBlade3 ай бұрын
@@PolenarTactical I too have astigmatism, in my right eye specifically, but I'm left-eye dominant. As long as I wear my glasses the reticle is very sharp, though I agree it could be a touch smaller. Gonna switch to one also after having a class this year in some very light rain. While it didnt stop me from using my current dot (open). Still just to make sure i can keep using it without having even to think about what rain or dust or whatever else will do to the dot, i wanna go for an enclosed dot. Since i use my pistol indoors and outdoors it also just makes better sense to go with an enclosed dot. And the main reasons i go for the EPS is also the points mentioned, slight plus point also is for the size of the window/dot you still get quite a low deckheight. So its not gonna stick out to much above the slide and makes it more possible to keep using the irons also.

I have an EPS Carry, and I love it. Make sure you use blue thread locker on the battery tray screw. I didn't, and the screw backed out on it's own and got lost. Had to contact Holosun for a new one.
@PolenarTactical3 ай бұрын
Interesting, you are the second person to mention this I haven't had that happen on any of my reddots yet but it seems that all my screws came with pre-applied blue substance on the threads. Also i make sure to tighten that screw when i insert the battery. I will keep this in mind for the next battery replacement that i do
@armorers_wrench3 ай бұрын
Technically blue is the wrong locktite for those little screws. Pretty sure you're actually supposed to use purple. Everyone uses blue but loctite themselves say blue is for fasteners of a certain size, purple is for a certain size, etc. I don't know the sizes off the top of my head but I'm like 90% sure purple is the correct one for very small screws. Obviously blue works but...yeah.
@onpsxmember3 ай бұрын
@@armorers_wrench It is for small threads. Me best guess is that a lot of manufacturers do not mention it for 2 reasons: It is even thinner and using too much is a nightmare if you can't heat it up. People already achieved to create malfunctions with only the blue (243). They slather it on the screw that is close to the extractor. It goes in there and the extractor is stuck (If a too long screw didn't already). Now take watery thin variant that can get into small threads and get it close to electronics. A nightmare. Some rds have only a foil on the bottom, inside it is cramped anyway. A lot can go wrong and the crowd has blame on the quick draw. The blue stays blue, the somewhat ruby/violet clear stuff looks like a lot of different things dried. Easier to identify.

Good review! I really like that you can show real-world, hard use and not just artificial 'torture test'. If you want a real chuckle, look up some articles and ads from the '80s and '90s that show the earliest pistol optics. They were as big as the slide and extremely fragile; they could not handle slide recoil, and had to be mounted to the frame!
@onpsxmember3 ай бұрын
Look at those a bit later at ipsc matches. The rules at the time allowed it. So why mount it to the slide if you can have no movement at all? They even had optics that could be switched for the correct lead for drawn targets. It was like F1, manufacturers exactly built what they needed.

I've recently had my Glock 26 gen 4 cut for an optic and I went with the EPS Carry MRS. The Carry is the perfect width for the gun, the regular EPS would overhang a little. It's been too little time for me to really give a well-founded opinion and it's my first pistol RDS, but so far I haven't found anything I didn't like. The only drawback of the whole thing, which isn't even the fault of the Holosun, is that I had to modify my holster to fit the gun with the new sight. Fortunately it wasn't by much and kydex is easily molded with a bit of heat.

It depends on what footprint the gun is cut for. EPS uses Holosun K/RMSc footprint.

EPS is great, but I think their green emitters have some issues. I traded my EPS Carry Red 6MOA for an EPS (full size) Green 6MOA, and it turned out to have a bad emitter. Sent it to Holosun and they sent me a new one, but the dot still isn't as clean as the one on the EPS Carry Red.

I have the EPS Carry on my CZ P01. I work in a mega dusty environment and all i have to do is wipe off the sawdust and its clear as day. Also, my buddy got a p365xl with some sig optic that was so blue that i could barely see the solid 8 inch black dot on a white target at 25 yards. Maybe his got a double layer of the dot reflective surface on his glass so it was fucked from the start, but even if it was 1/3rd as blue, the EPS would still be more clear.

I will also say, that i'm probably gonna get a couple more EPS, but the bigger brother ones for offset sights on my rifles.

If you have the chance, ask what dot it is. Enclosed?...maybe the romeo x enclosed compact.

I have one, it works excellent, yet I really wanted to piggyback it on a LPVO for nightvision reasons, but the glass is not that great under nods. Vortex Optics' mailbox has a better glass clearance but their diode is not getting dim enough on the other hand, it blooms the target away.

I shoot so little with NVGs that i dont really care about how my stuff performs for that use but i have tried the EPS just a couple weeks ago and it seemed quite ok Next time i need to compare it with some other pistol dots to get a better idea where it sits

@@PolenarTactical The rcr for the elusiveness and the romeo x enclosed pro. That will gather attention. First impressions, comparison in features and visuals later a vs at the range 3-6 months later. On the open stuff at least the biggest, the Defender xl seems to be worth looking into from Vortex vs 507 Comp and 508T.
