Well, this is a new project that I've been wanting to do for a long time. I'm really going in blind not having ever made a KITT before. I'm not planning on making the interior like KITT but the body will be exactly like the TV show.
Follow me on this journey. It should be interesting.

Steve, congratulations! So glad you can get started on KITT #1 - - I know you’ve been wanting to replica a KITT for a long time. Here we go, rock ‘n’ roll! I think you made a wise chose to do something that will be fun for you this winter into the spring and then whoever buys it it will just be “for fun” not a show car. Too many people get wrapped around the axle about the show cars and I think a buyer who just wants it for fun is the better customer. Yes, getting cold here this week to, they say SNOW this weekend on the pass (#30 was out for a spin yesterday on dry pavement). So cool you got this in the shop before the snow starts flying. . . . Hey there Mike. I agree, I think some guys can get too caught up in the restoration that they either spend too much money and or it is harder than they thought and maybe resent the project after a while. I'm not looking for perfection. I just thought it would be cool to shoot around town in a T/A that looks like KITT. I still don't know if the car is good enough. I'll know as I go along. I hear you on the last fling of the year in the torino.

Excellent news. I shall follow with great interest. I almost bought a 3rd gen before I bought my vette. Have always liked them. Yours will be an interesting build. Re the KITT nose, I've read that there can be quite a range of quality and particularly fit issues across suppliers. So it may pay to research that step carefully. Just my 2 cents. Stay safe, buddy.

Hi Daniel, I've been pricing the noses and they are really expensive, everything is really expensive. The nose goes from $600 to over $1,000. The red light is about $500. I may rethink this project. But for now I am doing things like replacing the passenger fender. I already got the hood. I'll do the mechanicals while I figure out my plan. I would also like to have a third gen Iroc Z-28 Camaro.

@@born_again_torinos Face it, even if you decide to simply build a nice 3rd Gen Trans Am, it'll still be a fun car and fun project. Then bring on the Camaro! Unless I win the lottery ... because then you'll need to pause and build me a Torino. 😇

Love it! I still have the 1982 new car brochure I asked my Dad to pick up after I found out KITT was a TA. Glad you're not trying to retro-fit the T-tops. Are you planning on sticking with the same interior color since you're not doing the dash and everything? And I personally like the stock rear tail lights over the plain tinted black strip, but I realize I'm in the minority and it's not screen correct. I've heard the hood latch has to be modified for the scanner, so I'll be interested to see how that actually works. And are you going to have the front grill lights in addition to the pop-ups? Sorry, a thousand questions! I'm just really excited for this. :-)

Hi Stephen, I'm going to play it by ear since this is all new to me. My plan is to pull out the interior and use the correct color Tan duplicolor spray and change the interior color. I even toyed with getting the KITT steering wheel but we shall see. The wheels might be the hardest part. I didn't know about the hood latch. I'll have to look into that. I'm not sure what season nose to get, I think the fog lights are different in the different style noses. I see several companies make KITT parts, they all seem to be in Europe though. I'm glad you are excited to see this process. We will learn together.

You should really do the interior like the K.I.T.T. ,I hear it isn't all that difficult.
