Today's video is a special one! We're taking the Sickxty on it's first real drive! We have no idea how many years it's been since this 1960 VW beetle has been on the road.
We went about 24 miles and most everything went great! Of course there are some things that need tweaked but what a huge accomplishment! IT DROVE!!

Gary , Needed this ride so bad . Had a knee replacement last week and going stir crazy. Riding in a bug cures most problems in life. Seems funny not watching you shift with the long bus shifter ( which I copied in my 66 bug ). BEST channel on the internet !!

Orange brake clean. I think you sell yourself short Gary , you've done an awesome job building the 60. It is very inspiring to watch you work, I need to get back on Mellow Yellow. I have everything to rebuild the front end and all of the brakes. Transmission is brand new, motor was fresh when I bought it. I have not even put 2,000 miles on it since I purchased it in 2019. The above-mentioned work and Body and Paint is what Melo needs. I have not done any work on her in a few years. Got myself into a new hobby, RC rock crawling trucks. Hope to start competing soon😃 keep up the great work and look forward to seeing your next project😎

If the car ran hotter that would be a great idea! Believe it or not, even in this hot summer heat, it’s running cooler than it did in jawbreaker since the rear is all open and exposed. In all reality, I might not have needed the oil cooler at all.

Orange brake cleaner! What a great accomplishment looks like it drove great with plenty of power and correct gearing:) will the oil from the oil cooler and lines drain back to the case or are there any check valves in the thermostat. I have the same one to install on my stroker. I have been pretty fortunate to have mounted about 4 sets of tires without weights and have had great results. Btw thanks for adding me to your list in your description i really appreciate it! Thanks for another great video!

Woo hoo, thanks Nate! With the oil thermostat installed, I do not have a drain back issue at all. I believe that’s what helps it from draining back anyway. I think I’ll have the local shop out these on the machine and see how balanced they are. I have a hard time believing these big bud tires don’t need balancing. You’re more than welcome, I added ya there a while back 🤙 Gotta help support the community!

You must feel like the king of the road cruising in that thing! I can't believe how lively the performance is considering the big-ass tires. How is the ride compared to the Jawbreaker? Smoother ride I imagine?

She’s got tons of power and torque, he really built this gearbox well not to mention at 3k rpm I’m at 68mph… it’s like a win win for low end and cruising. Definitely rides better than jawbreaker, much more suspension travel since it’s at stock height basically and the large tires are 6 ply I believe so they don’t require much air pressure. Pretty sure I have 25 in the rear and 20 up front.

I think I mentioned it on a previous video but these are mini Cooper seats I pulled out of jawbreaker. Super comfy and I just boot them to the floor with grade 8 hardware and a 1 1/2 thick walled square tube between the floor and the seats.
