You've been such a big inspiration to me lately in keeping up with my own art journey. 'I'm not here to make pretty paintings'. This is definitely something I need to keep in mind as I learn, it's held me back too much in the past from experimenting and developing.

I'm so glad Evolve is working so well for you Methrilda. And thanks for the awesome videos, you do such a great job on them. Try putting the paint on a piece of glass cut to fit a 1/4 sheet aluminum cake pan with a cover. I have had oil paint last for weeks that way, just by saturating a cotton ball with clove oil, placing it in the container alongside the paint, and keeping the paint covered. Cheers from New Mexico USA!

eckosama wow you just reminded me to go back and keep going with the Alphonso Dunn book.I got to the first chapter I think it was about strokes technique.I lost the motivation but I’m glad to know someone is on this journey too.We got this ✍🏾😁

@@cloudy6113 lets do this! :) never give up ( i literally just finished my page of practice between starting the video and seeing this comment. got motivated all a sudden. I will be buying his book this september or before :) this is my second time around altho not using the books, I drew his tutorials for around maybe two years and i finished almost all the major ones, like the face shapes. but when i go back over, i want to do alot of contour shadows and crosshatching and focus less on making it super detail . alphonso dunn was my first tutorial youtuber that i stuck with. after that i did alot of scott robertson tutorials. that stuff is a lot more precise and technical, and then of course eventually i will do evolve. i also want to release my first ebook of drawings before then, its alot haha

I follow some other artists and they also start with gradients. Lights and shadows, depth is key to a painting not looking flat. You got this! I turn my paper and canvas too because some angles are hard to get! I see you are learning a lot and that is inspiring! Yeah!!! #breakitin

this is actually very interesting I always been hesitant towards oil
@Mithrilda4 жыл бұрын
Me too, I always felt like it was a boring old people, classic type medium and that it would be expensive and hard. Well one of those reasons is true lmao. Why have you been hesitant?
@partingmist85503 жыл бұрын
@@Mithrilda Im hesitant because I have two big dogs that shed alot, and im worried about fur getting into my paintings while I let them dry. Also hesitant because of very limited space. would be nice to have a studio - with that id go ahead and get some oil paints today lolz.

That's fair. I don't think I'd be able to do this without my own room that I can close the door on. My cats immediately jumped on the easel and there are some fumes that you really don't want in the bedroom. I keep an air filter in my "studio" for the pet hair and the paint fumes (at least I hope it helps for that).

It took me 3 months to get to exercise 5 because I can only paint 1-2x a week and I had to submit a revision for Exercise 4. Exercise 2 took me a month because I had to stop 1/2 way through and then life prevented me from getting back to it quickly.

I do feel like if I had a dedicated studio space it would be easier since I can't leave paint setup as it is.

It's also okay to just put out fresh new paint everyday and keep going. Just don't leave the blending for the next day or it'll be a rough time.

The Evolve Artist is from Mitch , the same founder behind Pencil Kings, his courses are really expensive and he's talking about giving education in an accessible manner 👎. I can pay but for other resources. SVSlearn, proko, skillshare or Udemy..many great courses can be found in these sites. Drawbox is also very good.
@Mithrilda4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's definitely pricey when you think about all the resources available on the internet, but I haven't found anything else that gives me all the art supplies, one on one support, critique, foundational curriculum, and flexibility Evolve does for less than the cost of say tuition at an art school. I've tried a lot of those resources and the personal attention and critique was something I was really missing. If you learn perfectly well without it, then Evolve may not be worth your money, but it's essential for me and truly an affordable way to get it. I've never found anywhere else as affordable as Evolve's lifetime access to their curriculum and teachers.

It's worth noting that Mitch helped Kevin bring his school into the online education realm - but it is firmly based on Kevin's program through his academy, which was well established before Mitch and Kevin met.
