My first CNC router- Genmitsu 4040 pro

After months of wanting to try out my skills with a router CNC, I finally get to try one. Sainsmart sent me this small framed CNC to test and hone my skills. This will be an adventure and I expect a learning curve.

you will love the cnc router and it goes well with the lasers. I started with Next Wave cnc about the same size as the one you have and a 2 watt laser model addon. Now I use the 20 w xtool. Just as lightburn is the go to software for laser, Vectric is the go to software for cnc router. I use dewalt routers for my router table, but use makita for my cnc. Many of my projects are cut on cnc router and engraved on laser. Check with Next Wave, they might give you one for a you tube review. Enjoy!!

That looks like it could be fun I have always wanted one but just ungraded from a 5.5 W laser to a 20 W xTool Pro so I have to get that payed off first LOL I have always wanted to do some 3D cabinet doors along with a few other projects I know you will have fun when you learn it and will have a lot of projects for you craft booth

Clack, when positioning the spindle in position to cut a project, given the bit diameter, is the center of the bit line up on o,o of the work piece or the circumference of the bit?,also have you determined what the two m3 holes are for on back of 4040 offline controller. Thank you.

The spindle operates off the center. The width of the bit will come into play when designing. The holes in the back of the controller and for a mount. I fashioned one from a metal corner brace. Not sure why they didn’t include the bracket

I put the Dewalt on my 4040 pro and when I start the job it throws an error as soon as it touches the board. Did you have this issue?

No, make sure you have it adjusted to avoid triggering the limit on the Z axis. I have made that mistake. You may have to loosen the mount and slide it down.

It was my first CNC but it works well. Not sure if that was a question about how I like engraving with it or a comment that I should engrave with it. Either way, I have used it a good bit and it works well. It has been cranking out lots of jobs. I am not gonna say it couldn’t. It does use GRBL commands but there are some differences in how a router works and the shape of the bits that lightburn isn’t set up to do. To really unlock its potential, the software needs to be designed with those things built in.

@@genedunlap8384 Lightburn will run the X an Y axis but not the Z. You will need a CNC software. Easel is easy to learn and walks you through every step.

I appreciate the interest that was very nice of you to take the time but l return it. I spent countless hour trying on my own to fix the problems. It when you contact the seller via email and they don’t respond back. There is just no excuse. This is an entry level machine. It geared for the hobbyists. With that said if you’re going to sell a product such as this you should at the very least acknowledge you. The lack of professionalism is my big gripe. Hopefully my next purchase it will work as a box and not require any support. Wish me luck.

I was very disappointed with the support I received from this product. After numerous attempts in not receiving a callback, you’re pretty much on your own. do yourself a favor and find somebody that will support the product they are selling.
