Hiiii guys. If you are here to comment about me not wearing my seatbelt, please spare yourself or watch the whole video and realize I wear it 95% of the time (there is even a clip of me putting it on)🤦♀️ minus a 7 second clip where I am pulling out of a parking lot area & drive 10 mph to another parking spot. If I don’t have my seatbelt on for more than 10 seconds and the van is going faster than 15 mph it beeps at me uncontrollably. Please remember these videos are edited and you don’t always see exactly where I’m at or what I’m doing. Thank you all for watching 😁

Great vid. You are right...getting use to living on the road in a van or car takes some getting use to. I love it on the road. I travel in a Jeep Wrangler. If there is one thing I would make sure to get is a premium alarm system. I have had someone try to break in while I was asleep...but the alarm went off and the person was gone. It probably startled him as much as me.

Hello Kelly. I love the van life. I lived in a 1984 Toyota Mirage Micromini camper back in 2001. I traveled all over Florida in it. I had a blast and met a lot of nice people too. I miss it so much, if i could do it all over again I would. Keep on keepin on.

Since you already have a diesel tank you may want to look into having a diesel heater installed. Then you dont have to worry about venting like you would with a Mr. Buddy as it will be vented to the outside. Its also safe to keep running while sleeping where Mr. Buddy isnt.

When we received our FIRST Diesel ambulance, one of our medics just did the usual, and put unleaded in it....Not good at all. After only a couple miles, it was taken out of service, and the company had to put a new engine in it....

Mr buddy heaters are way down on the list of heaters. Since you have a diesel already checkout on Amazon for the diesel air heater. They have been around for decades now and work well to heat an area without fogging up the windows or spewing poisonous gas into the drivers compartment. They cost about a hundred and fifty bucks. and use about a gallon of diesel in a 24 hour continuous use timeframe.

I would skip the buddy heater, they are not good for extended or even full time use, I made the same mistake. It goes through a lot of propane fast, especially if you use the 1LB bottles, way to powerful even in LOW setting so you end up turning it on an off... and they create this AWFUL smell! I am using the Olympian Wave 3 and it is doing OK for desert winter but the Wave 6 would better if you want it nice an cosy. However if serious winter also in altitude, an (diesel) air heater is the only real way to go.
@kellyhays233 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. The buddy was only meant to be a temporary heat source. I ended up not getting on and just dealing with colder temps. It’s been nice. When I get done with AT I’m planning on putting some money toward a good heater

Looks like a good set up Hays. I have a couple of questions though. You had furniture and stuff. Did you sell all your stuff or get a storage space? Where's your hiking stuff? Will you have a friend(s) shuttle your van up the AT so you can stay in it at road crossings? That would be labor intensive but would save big $$ on town days. Just think of the opportunities for slack-packing. What are your thoughts?
@kellyhays233 жыл бұрын

Love your vids, your spirit, and your courage! Why people insist on playing their music in nature is beyond me. It is one thing to bump your tunes while rolling down the road, but when people come to the lake, mountains, or beach and play their music, it is like them walking into church and playing their music. I’m also tired of hearing the buzzing of drones out in nature.
