My Mom's best friend, she had a son who had cf. This was back in the 70s and 80s, he lived until the age of 12. He, at his young age, said he wanted to help do what could for the cure of cf. As he lived, he did trials and then he said he wanted to donate from his body whatever scientists needed to see what could help the research of potential helpful means for cf patients then and in the future. I pray for you, Mary and all of those who have cf, that this pill will help you and many others.

No, he didnt. I believe his liver and lungs but I was very young when he passed away and don't know if other organs were donated to science.

He truly was! I only remember bits and pieces then of course I was about him as he was in life; my fave memory, he put me on his shoulders (I was 3 or 4 and he was 9 or 10) and took my brother's hand to take us to the park. It sticks with me to this day. I appreciate that memory and him giving it to me so much because I now know he did something that would eventually stress out his body. I never saw much of him because he was in the hospital a lot. But he wash a blessing and I will never forget him.

This is so motivating to see - I graduated this week and am starting my PhD at Oxford's Medical Sciences division on one of the teams that's related to this new medication, and seeing how much of an impact this can have really helps to make all that I went through to get my undergrad done (I'm a wheelchair user from some chronic illnesses and so it took a while...) really worth it

Love you guys . I have to mention something . My dad has serious heat disease . It all started at 49 yrs. he is 90 now.Due to the effectiveness of new medications. I don't need to go into detail . His life expectantly initially wasn't all that great. Due to all the changes in medicine my dad is a very active 90 year old man . He is going on vacation tomorrow to visit family in Maine . My dad still has the same heart condition but the changes in medicine have left him a heathy 90 year old😀

When my dad was 49 he couldn't walk from the car into a store . He had so much heart pain . At ninety he exercises everyday . My dad is a practicing Christened . Reads scripture daily . I have said this before . You guys are in GOD's hands and HE won't drop you .

There are so many different CF mutations and each requires a different type of this kind of medication. So this will only work for her type or maybe a small group of types. The drugs Orkambi and Kalydeco already exist for certain other types and have been so helpful for many people. It's great to see these drugs being developed but for people with rarer mutations of CF, there's far less chance of drugs being developed but I do hope there is miraculous treatment available suitable for everyone with CF some day! 😊❤️

My son began Kalydeco at age 2 (he was approved on his 2nd birthday). A year in, he had normal liver function for the first time in his life. Two years after beginning it he has begun to have mild to moderate production of pancreatic enzymes. I am anxious to see if in another year he will no longer need pancreatic enzymes! I'm so happy for you, Mary. I am praying this medication will have no side effects and will do a miracle in your body! Praise God from Whom all blessings flow...
