I love HomeKit devices like this that don’t force me to install their own app

Thanks so much for describing the process. Did you connect without going through a HomePod hub?
@JerrySchulze Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. I have Apple TVs for the hub.

Does this camera need a Hub like the HomePod mini?
@cpenrose6410 ай бұрын
You’ll need a Apple HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K to view any video while not at home.

So what is your preference between this and the Eufy?

Do I need a Home hub to get notifications? I can’t seem to get any or even see the ability to set up notifications but I don’t have a hub.

I think you need a HomePod, iPad, or Apple TV.

yes it works for a while until it doesn't, then you will have to reinstall everything for it to function again, pretty unreliable

yikes! The video is about the process and not this specific camera, so hope it helps others.

I appreciate you doing this review. I've been holding out on HomeKit cameras for a while now due to middling user experiences amongst the Apple community. It looks like the HomeKit Secure Video experience is still mediocre. It just seems so...clunky? Either way, appreciate the video 👍
@JerrySchulze Жыл бұрын
From my limited use it doesn’t feel clunky compared to others I have used. What makes you feel that about this?
@Kolton88 Жыл бұрын
@@JerrySchulze I guess the whole setup process just takes so many taps, and many taps go unnoticed by the home app. I noticed this in your video even, it's like the hit box for finger taps is unresponsive, or perhaps too small? It just feels like a semi-slick UI on top of rather mediocre UX. I can get through it without issue, but I need more confidence in the UI/UX so that my mother can navigate this process on her own, since I won't always be around to diagnose issues, and HomeKit likes to be finicky. The Home app in general just feels like such an outlier in the Apple experience when it comes to being enjoyable and consistent to use, so I was hoping to be proven wrong with HomeKit Secure Video's implementation into the ecosystem, but it just feels 'meh' still. If they can increase reliability, speed up the UI, and reduce taps (or at least increase their responsiveness) across the Home app in general, I think I could seriously consider HomeKit Secure Video.
