I got into nrl22 about a year ago and I'm hooked. The people are the best part but it's addictive

We only shoot option 1, no bonus stages or sight ins. We just show up discuss safety and each stage then shoot. It’s a blast for sure. The April event we had 20+ mph winds to deal with. Still great fun.
@FClassJohn2 жыл бұрын
I was told our MD switches it up once in a while, today happened to be one of the 'option 2' days except for the one stage I talked about. I think he adds the bonus stage just so people get a little extra shooting in.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one in the "Dial DOPE for 100 yards on Stage 4" club yesterday. Thanks for joining us yesterday and looking forward to seeing you out at the next match.

Hi Alex! If you’re interested in a bit of a preview for your upcoming match.. I have a video up on my channel that is a quick 15 minute breakdown of each stage with a bit of insight, a few tips, and some entertaining commentary.

@@22LimaRomeo you mean like the one I just watched here?
@22LimaRomeo2 жыл бұрын
@@alexmason1387 no, it’s not like this video at all. I have a feeling you’re not interested, so I’ll leave it at that. I’m just a guy who loves this sport, is looking to help others learn, score impacts, and have a good time at matches. Apologies, if my invite to take a look at my channel rubbed you the wrong way. That definitely wasn’t my intention.

Started shooting NRA F Class Smallbore to practice wind reading a couple years ago. Best move I ever made ! Improved my wind calls 100% in HP F/TR. Extra added bonus REALLY have come to enjoy it in it's own rights! Built a FSBR custom this past fall as a copy of my F/TR gun and plan to compete with it at the Nationals at Camp Perry this summer.

Welcome to NRL22! It’s a great community, and good league to learn a lot about this kind of shooting.

I thought you’d get into it John, my first course of fire had me hooked. I’m fortunate enough to have a private range set up with electronic 600 yard, I’ve now added a NRL/PRS 22RF course to it and are using that more than centre fires. I’m planning on holding some fun comp days with a few friends who have been bitten since I got into it. My favour part is varying the course and shooting props, it never gets old.

I shot my first PRL22 match in the UK last month. After years of shooting from a bench or prone, unsupported was by far the most alien feeling. I was using way too much zoom and target aquisition was near impossible. The other main takeaway was the pressure of the timer. I ended up rushing nearly every stage and ending up with loads of time left despite constantly reminding myself to slow down. Great fun though and a cheap way to get into precision rifle.
@FClassJohn2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that is how I felt. First time off-hand before the match I was at 25x and it was horrific. I dialed back to 5 for the match and still couldn’t keep it on target but practicing is easy to do at home for that one at least.

Nice job John, it was your first match, having to figure out what to do, changing distances, etc. I think you did really well. If I tried to shoot left handed it would be a disaster. Sounds like fun. Even though I only have my 10/22, I am now thinking about trying a 22 match. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing! Looks like a lot of fun plus good and inexpensive practice for F-class. I love to practice in my back yard with a .25 cal PCP air rifle. Uses a good trigger and you learn hold overs as well as wind calls. Looking forward to your next match!

@FClassJohn2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely loved the scope. Reticle was perfect and I don't think I could've asked for more at this point honestly. One thing I love about the Leupold Mark5 scopes is how crazy crystal clear the glass is.
@brettinnj2 жыл бұрын
So what ammo did you end up using? The best part of shooting a 22 is you always have ammo loaded. That and it's like dry firing with wind calls. Thanks for the video.

I’m sure this is a very different animal compared to F-Class, but it’s a lot of fun.. and develops a very practical set of skills. Maybe we’ll get to shoot a match together some day.

Just bought the same CZ.. Want to learn long range. Do you have any videos on starting long range? How I ended up with the CZ 457 was A NLR22 shooter and took the rifle out of the box and went to a match with sub par ammo and finished 4th..

I'm intrigued by the "weak side" shooting you say you practice for F-Class. Can you elaborate anymore as to why/when this comes up in your practice regiment? And thanks for the updates!!
@FClassJohn2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say I practice as much as I shoot other people's guns on the line sometimes that are left-handed and I am just used to being on the weak side while setting up my gear and stuff. So the combination just has me feeling comfortable on the off-side of a gun. I was also lucky that the MTA stock I have is pretty ambidextrous as well so it made it pretty easy to switch sides too.

How much airgun field target do you have around you? Sort of similar shooting philosophies and that might work with a "cheap" used Benjamin Marauder FT which is regulated. Saw a used one on air gun nation forums today. FT is normally 35 to about 85 yards with little animal reactive targets. We don't have much around me or I'd be competing with something. Might be another thing you could get into that wouldn't be horribly expensive to get going.
@FClassJohn2 жыл бұрын
I could do airgun on my property if I wanted and definitely at the club. I might consider it but for now one extra discipline is enough.
@joeschuster28372 жыл бұрын
thank you, whats the rifle cost
@FClassJohn2 жыл бұрын
I’m in the open category so it’s unlimited. I found a used CZ457 that had some accessories and it cost about $1300. Only think I had to add was a scope and bipod. Luckily I had a scope sitting around that I traded for a more appropriate one.
