6 armored trucks with roof turrets, so figure a Quick Reaction Force of probably 40 or so bad-ass dudes armed to the teeth and supported with crew-served weapons. The Huey doesn't appear to be armed and so I suspect it is for spotting ambushes and chasing fleeing perpetrators. Pretty substantial protection right there. But not insurmountable if some terrorist group had a lot of guys, a lot of bombs and shockingly good intel. The REAL security is installed on the truck, and I happen to know that IS insurmountable. Pretty much every good anti-theft idea you can think of for that semi-truck, they've done. There's two drivers in the cab, who switch off every 6 hours or so and are remotely monitored for every second of the trip. If either driver dies in the cab, gets out of their seat when they aren't supposed to or deviates in any other way from the GPS-monitored course and itinerary, the engine self-destructs (so it can't be driven), the trailer axles all self-destruct (so the trailer can't be towed), the electronics package in the nuke self-destructs (so it can never be used again) and the whole trailer fills with polymer cement that's harder than rock and sets in just a few seconds (so the intruders can't steal the plutonium or any of the parts). Plus it sends a remote signal to the Quick Reaction Force F-16s (which ARE actually armed with rockets and guided bombs) which they keep on standby alert during convoys. Every single vehicle (plus the remote monitoring station) can activate that failsafe remotely, as well. For the record, everything I just said was acquired from open source intelligence via books and the Internet.
@chivalrous82457 жыл бұрын
This actually sounds really interesting. Are there any websites you can remember talking about this? I'd really love to link a few people to them. That's not a missile transporter, it's a guidance section/warhead transporter. They drive the trailer over the silo, then open the silo door. The flaps on the side of the trailer drop down to seal the opening for environmental purposes. A winch inside the trailer lowers the guidance section then the warhead section (up to 3 warheads) onto the missile. I used to be stationed there :-)

Generally, USAF transports nuclear warheads aerially. They don't transport the warhead (which is rather small) with the whole missile. The truck *could* be carrying a nuclear warhead, but is most likely not. Definitely something important, though.
@appleintosh7 жыл бұрын
Kenneth Carson The USAF doesn't transport anything. All fissile material is property of the Department of Energy, and they transport it. Besides, the Air Force only deploys a small fraction of our nuclear arsenal. There's 450 warheads in 450 ICBMs, since they're not MIRVed, and maybe a hundred or so ground bombs. The Navy on the other hand, deploys over 2,200 nuclear weapons. 14 SSBN subs, 20 active missile tubes per sub, and at least 8 MIRVed warheads per missile is over 2,200 warheads in the NAVYs control.

Might want to go recheck your math or a little bit there are three bases each with 150 silos. One Missile field is in North Dakota another is in Montana and the third one is spread out in the Wyoming Colorado and Nebraska Corner area.

Wait this nuke cannot detonate right? Its not even armed,if I am correct even if the truck gets blown up it won't give an explosion.
@777SFINN7777 жыл бұрын
It's probably just nuclear material. Not an actual bomb. So the only danger here is if the material gets blown up. No nuclear explosion would come from it only nuclear waste. It would be highly retarded to transport a nuclear bomb that actually has nuclear material loaded in it. Always separate the gun from the ammunition when loading, cleaning, or storing your firearms...
@sovietwombat81947 жыл бұрын
The Hammer And Tickle Aah I was confused since people in the comments are always telling that its an actually nuke but that would be stupid
@ric847 жыл бұрын
If it were a warhead you could blow the thing up with 100 tons of c4 and it wouldn't explode. wouldn't want to breathe in the dust though.
@MarloWebber7 жыл бұрын
even if it is an actual nuclear weapon, crashing the truck or blowing it up wouldn't set it off. To work properly they need all the right stuff to be activated with microsecond precision. More to the point, they are designed to fail safely in case of an accident.
@dubious67187 жыл бұрын
I'm fairly sure the warhead is inside a tough case inside the trailer, so even if you blew up the trailer it wouldn't do much to the warhead

Conex Xenon you could nuke a nuke and it still wouldn't blow up. It doesn't need that serious of a convoy. Also, if the people in the truck get out when theyre not supposed to or it drives off course for a certain period of time, the cars engine will blow up along with the axles, and in seconds, a concrete like material seals up the car to prevent anything from entering the vehicle.

Plot twist: it turns out it was in some ratty soccer mom van that nobody cared about that was following the convoy a mile away.

Just another day in North Dakota. Also, if a warhead is inside the truck, it looks a bit lightly defensed.

I'm curious to what happens if you follow them until you reach a Militarized zone. Probably get stopped before you reach 10% of it.

Yes, there is a warhead in that semi trailer. You want excitement, try physically interfereing with that convey, the and will not be pleasant. My first duty assignment was Minot AFB, ND in the missile maintainence squadron responsible for maintaining those missiles.

I was part of the 92d Security Police Squadron, we had the weapons for the B-52's and were under orders to shoot first, ask questions later!!! I'd say that is not pleasant!

I'm guessing Minuteman III on its way to Vandenberg for a test. Growing up near Vandenberg has made those tests literal background noise for me.

Is it just me or was the video quality perfectly scened out that when the helicopter flew by it just seemed right for it to explode Just me? Also for some of you that might've made no sense.
