All things considered it doesn't seem worth it to me. The pay amounts to the same or less than a company driver, with one critical exception and that is major repair expenses being on you rather than the company. Obviously owning the truck outright eventually is the goal and a big plus, but by then it's likely to be quite tired. Just my two cents. I used to think it was a good idea. Maybe a husband and wife team could make it work well and make okay money, otherwise it seems like a bad idea.

I've been in 3 leases in 19 years as well as company in-between. So what I found is this. Company driver I made about 1300 to 1800 a week net... With the lease op. Id bring home about 4 to 5k a week.. After taxes and my health insurance I make about 25k more a year to lease op... So i make more lease op by a bit. I look at the end of the year. All I have to do is trip plan well and Ill make money. Lease ops are different though, some have good maintence plans, some like prime have the whole truck basically under warranty. There will be better weeks than some so I look at it more in monthly wages instead of weekly. I look at about 10 to 12k a month take home then take a couple grand for taxes set it aside pay my wife and I each 1k a week ( she rides with me, does all the stuff thats not driving, paperwork, the shopping, stuff like that). Rest of money is stored with the business. After quarterly taxes we give our selves a bonus lol What's good about these leases is you can walk away. If i had two bad months in a row I could just turn in the truck... Also if you have no idea how to run a business this is a good way to learn without losing your shirt. Best thing to do is go into them with a couple grand for a rainy day if something happens at first, but most ive seen do all repairs for like 30 days or so, so I dont go home that first 30 days and run the shit out of it lol

No truck payment + $500 sign in bonus... real number is not positive...

Thanks for the comment kaptan! Yes you are correct about no truck payment but the sign on bonus was is actually just orientation pay. I did not receive a sign on bonus unfortunately. The real bring home number was 934 and some change but with taxes out it’s actually is 654 so it is a positive number just not a great one. If you would like better break down i will be uploading my second settlement this Friday so you can see what a full week breaks down to so I hope to see you comment there this week! Leasing from the same company that you work for is never a good idea. Prices of trucks are falling every day. Grind company stack your $ then buy a truck.
