I sooooo love armchair quarterbacks. This couple was cute; they had a sweet vibe about them. They understood research, worked hard for what they wanted and got it. Good for them.

What a sweet sweet couple! I was so nervous for them ! Especially the husband, he was trying so hard not to get excited but you could see how much he loved that house and how excited he was that his wife loved it as well . It was so fun seeing them get excited when it worked out

It depends on the market. It can be more expensive to buy in one town and state than in another. I believe this couple lives in Denver, if I remember correctly. It's more expensive there. In California that would only buy a tiny, shabby, 40 year old fixer-upper.

What is the deal with popcorn ceilings? I like them, why are people so against them? As for this couple, if that extra 30 dollars a month means you can't go eat, you are getting WAY more house then you can afford.

With popcorn ceilings, I guess it's personal preference. I really don't like them. I think they started in the 1950s or 1960s. It was the standard for a lot of residential places and it's one way to hide imperfections. Great if you're a landlord, I suppose. I just find it to be a cheap cover up. You don't notice stains/problems immediately. I live in a rental and every time I go to remove cobwebs near the ceiling with a broom, I end up with white pieces to clean up off the floor. Back in the 1970s, the popcorn contained asbestos and even though that's no longer the case, other people may dislike them because of the association.

People who have a big master suite, tell me: Is it worth it? I can't understand devoting a huge amount of house to a room I'm sleeping in. When I'm awake, I almost never go into my bedroom: I get up, get dressed, make the bed and don't return to that room until I want to go to bed at night. So why devote huge real estate to a room that I'm only spending awake time in for about 30 minutes a day? Give me that space in a kitchen with an eating area or a living room or some room I'll actually spend time in when I'm awake, and my family and guests can spend time in while they are awake. So if you have a big master suite, do you spend a lot of time in there? Do you use a seating area in the bedroom? (When I go to my bedroom, I go to bed. If I want to sit, I sit in the living room or some other daytime room.) What advantages am I missing?

I totally agree. Living space way more important than huge bedrooms. When we were looking our priorities were a large kitchen. We live in Toronto--houses are typically 2 story semi Victorian/Edwardian. Washrooms small, closets are tiny. Houses long and about 20 ft wide. We took down the wall between kitchen and dining room, put a transom window over french doors looking out into backyard. Makes kitchen look huge, although it's really not.
