My first run for 5 WEEKS! How will my fitness hold up? How far can I go?

It's a been 5 weeks since I last ventured out for a run and this week I aim to put that right, but how does it go after such a long break?
Thanks so much for watching, subscribing, liking, commenting and sharing.
I'm Andy Clayton and in 2018 I did Couch To 5K and instantly discovered a love for running that I never knew existed. Prior to that, I'd always though that running looked like hard work and no fun at all. How wrong I was! Since discovering that there is a huge amount of enjoyment to be had when running I'm on a one man crusade to tell everyone that you can do it too! Were you told by your school physical "education" "teachers" that you were no good? Or did they just ignore you and talk to the sporty kids? That's what happened to me, and so I thought I was useless. I didn't think I'd ever be any good at anything even remotely sporty. But you really CAN do it! Couch To 5K is just the start, and once you crack that challenge there's lots more out there for you to enjoy.
Join me on my journey as I find out new things about running, enjoy trying different challenges that anyone can have a go at and also, occasionally, throw in a bit of utter silliness just for good measure.
There's a thriving community on this channel who regularly post very helpful tips and ideas in the comments. Join in! You won't regret it! 😀

Thanks Mark. I was waffling a bit, that's for sure. I was just so excited to be back out there again and a 10K was the sugar on the icing on the cherry on the cake! 😁🏃🏻‍♂️👍🏻

Runners often underestimate the value of well-rested legs.😁Very nice job with the run and video, Andy. It's great to see that you kept most of your fitness through the layoff and I'm looking forward to more rambly business like this.

Thanks Eddie. It was so nice to get out there again. I couldn't believe I managed a 10K. It was slow, and my heart rate was through the roof, but I didn't care about any of that in this run. I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to building on that.

Thanks Ben. Hahaha, I hope you're right and some kind of training is on the horizon. Not sure of the distance - but marathon one day hopefully! 😁👍🏻

This gives me hope after being advised to stop running by a physio after week 7 run 1 c25k. I want to get back to finish the job now!

Elevation 21m. Well, you´re not my secret norwegian neighbour, that´s for sure 😅 I´ve had a break for a year, but are back og track doing the c25k again. Well, at least once a week. It´s cold and dark outside. Good to see you and your videos again👌

I wonder what a two year gap will do? I’ll let you know soon. I think I am going to repeat the couch to 5K again just for myself as I graduated years ago but I need to ease myself back in very slowly.

That's a very good idea. C25K is so good, as you know, and I'm sure the pacing it would introduce would ease you back in gradually. I'll be interested to hear how you get on. Wishing you every luck - you deserve it!
