My First Skyrim Load Order on Xbox Series X (March 2021)

Man. I’m sold. Iv played PlayStation since ps1 (im 20 turning 21) and Iv never touched a Xbox until this year. I bought the Xbox S and I swear to god. Im never going back. A lot of people told me save up and just get the x and Im not super into games but wanted something new gen so I shot for the s and it’s fantastic. Skyrim’s always been my go too game. Iv beaten it multiple times and still go back to it daily. And man. Xbox S looks so nice. The mods run so nice. The game looks better then it ever has and runs better. Xbox has so many more mods and creators for it. I love it. I bought my Xbox 2 weeks ago and have been binge playing Skyrim. And this has been the best experience Iv had yet. Can’t wait to make a good mod load order myself and get a whole new experience. Def impressed with the system and the modding community on here. Outplayed ps4 and ps5 by a long shot. (Iv played Skyrim on both)

Seems stable - it survived the Dragonsreach-Whiterun test for me at least - there are some framerate issues but always seem to get those no matter what on the Series X - I suppose a game engine so old can only be pushed so far. Really liking the additional music.

Mythical Ages has a few ENB-like color grades you can use. I love the Fantasy one because of the colors and bloom effect.

Tested Skyrim yesterday ob my Series X and was amazed how good it looked even without mods! The backwarts compability is insane here, so a lot of texture mods arent that necessary any more! With tree and dense grass mods I experienced big fps drops and screen tearing, even with the new FPS Boost. I recommend to concentrate on those mods, that really are effective like lightning mods, or tree mods if u like them, rather than change every stone texture.

I’ll have a video up soon on the FPS Boost. I’m not having the best performance with it as opposed to the Unlock FPS mod but I’ll keep testing. A good lighting mod goes a long way for sure!

Have you tried this order with the FPS boost?

I did. Disabled the performance mods and tried it. I made a video with my phone impressions. It seemed like some of the downsides with the FPS Unlock mod were there (like frame drops in high foliage areas) but worse for me. I’ll definitely be trying again but I’m still sticking to this load order for the most part, with FPS Boost off.

I like it! Sorry for the late reply! I guess some comments fall through the cracks sometimes . I'd probably would put World map and Better Skies above Surreal Lighting but I'm guessing you've tried this out already. If it works well for you, I would just work off of that. Nice mods there!

As long as you close out of your game after installing then you’ll be okay. I would recommend doing a hard reset on your console if you’re installing a bunch of stuff at once. There are some mods that recommend restarting so that might be something you will want to look for in mod descriptions. There are some resources on the channel that’ll help get you started 👍

Thanks! It depends on the mod. I know there are some player homes that might have a quest or something else attached to it. I'd read the description and go from there. If it doesn't mention anything then I'd try to put it with other mods that add things to the game. Haven't tried any myself so I can't say what works for me.

It should be OK anywhere as the description says but I'd probably put it towards the top so it loads before some of your additive stuff. Under the USSEP for sure. I haven't tried any of those mods yet so I'm not sure what would be the best spot, or that it matters.

Haven’t used all of those so I couldn’t say for sure. I’d read the mod descriptions to see if there is any mention of conflicts. This load order works for me but may not for others so you may need to shift some things around accordingly. I do have a creature mod that might mess with Diverse Dragons; might be possible to put that after in order to overwrite it. Not familiar with that one.

This is just the one I use and it works for me. There’s a certain way you want your load order structured but as long as you’re mindful of any conflicts then you’ll be good 👍 Feel free to use some of mine as a blueprint of sorts and ask questions on my load order videos. This video was made before the FPS Boost. It’s not a mod but a feature that is now available for Fallout 4 and Skyrim. I did a video on how to find it in your Games & Apps as well as my thoughts on it. I’m finding that I prefer using the mod versus the boost. I’m thinking since you have the mod installed then it’s possible the boost is also on and causing crashes. I would use one or the other but not both. I can’t say for sure what is causing the crashes for you but that might be a culprit.

I haven't really noticed much missing since I've been using this for a while. It can remove things like that, though. Like interior fog and unnecessary particle effects. If it started to affect the look of my game too much then it might be worth me assessing if it's worth it but I'm not 100% sure how much the Series X really helps the performance of this game, if any. Outside of being able to use the uncap FPS mod and load times, obviously.

It’s up to you. I’m still using this setup without the Boost. If you want to try the Boost, just make sure you disable your Uncap FPS mod and vice versa. I will revisit the Boost but I couldn’t get great performance out of it.

I made this before the FPS Boost came out. I’m also not a big fan of it for Skyrim but I think I just need to mess around with my load order a bit. I like the Uncap FPS mod better right now. Fallout 4 runs great with the Boost, though!

It was something I've been doing for a long time now and haven't run into any issues. I think I probably initially moved it based on ETD and High Poly Project and hadn't moved it down further since I started using those. The textures I'm adding after it are additive and are meant to overwrite some stuff in Skyland. I may move it down below all those if I run into some issues but so far so good (I probably just jinxed myself).

@@Matt_the_TechRanger Hi. I've worked out the problem. It seems it was my recently downloaded mod "Open Cities". I disabled it, and it turns out it was hiding alot more than just heimskr. It seemed to have been interfering with some of my AI overhauls too. That's probably my fault with where I positioned it in my load order. But I think I'll stay clear of that mod for now. I like the populated cities, and non-robotic citizens :) Byeee stay safe

@@hithere439 I think that mod is a cause of a lot of mod issues. It's super cool and a great mod to have around but I do think it really stretches the technical limitations of the game. I'm not a mod author so I can't really speak to that with tech specs but I see a lot of mods that won't work with it.

You’ll want to build your load order with some basic things in mind. Look for conflicts with other mods, read the mod descriptions for placement info., and put gamechanging/patch mods towards the top. I have a few videos on the channel that may help. I try to stay away from giving specific advice on certain mods just because I’m not sure how other’s saves may react. Since all of our game saves are different depending on mods, there can be some weird results. I try my best to let everyone know that my list may not work out for everyone.

I don’t have any CC assets so I can’t say for sure but you *should* be okay. You kind of have to look at it like mods. So if you have CC assets that might conflict with something then it’d be best not to have those in your load order; however you configure your particular load order.

Good deal. I’m thinking of recording a couple Cyberpunk things but kind of waiting until those consoles are more available. Given that it runs well on the Series X. I actually play it and it reminds me of Skyrim’s early days in performance. I play it in performance mode so I get 60fps but it does hitch like Skyrim did at launch quite a bit. But it’s also so much fun like Skyrim that you just deal with it 😜

I just made a video on the FPS Boost for Skyrim that might be helpful for you to check out. This load order worked great for me using the Uncap FPS mod but had some trouble taking that off and using the Boost. The Boost will be on by default for the Series X | S so you’ll want to adjust accordingly for that by taking out performance mods, Uncap FPS, and the grass mod.

You may need to rearrange some things and I would not use the Unlock FPS mod. Other than that, build away my dude! I'd probably suggest downloading what you want and building around that first. If all works well then you can check out some of the other stuff after. Everything on the launcher was made for the Xbox One; you may need to finagle it a bit more but I don't see why not.

@@leonmcshane For me, it would only be if I made big changes to the load order. Make sure to not have the FPS Boost on if you're on the Series X. If you want to try it, just make sure to turn performance mods off.

With any load order, you’ll want to change it based on your game but I did use a lot of these on Xbox One X previously. All mods work on Xbox. I probably would not use the Uncap FPS mod unless you have a newer console, though.

Yea it seemed pretty solid aside from grassy areas for me. I’m finding that the FPS Boost gave me a lot of stuttering. I would only recommend using the mod or the Boost but not both. I’ll see if I can get more performance out of this load order but I’m thinking there is just a limitation of the game engine at some point 😜

I think it comes down to if you need a disc drive (if not for games, think movies) and if you care for 4K gaming. The Series S is powerful but the specs are adjusted for a max resolution of 1440p. Some games may not hit that target. You’ll also not have a disc drive on the Series S.

I wouldn’t suggest copying the list verbatim. Have you used mods that modified cities before? Could be mod data leftover on your save that is conflicting with something.

Have you tried hard resetting? Holding the Xbox button for 30 secs until it shuts off. When you install a bunch of mods at once, your game will almost always crash.

Definitely don't have as many in there as I used to. Everything seems to run OK. I have a hitch every now and then. Definitely would not suggest running in 120hz. I saw some weird jittery stuff going on. Probably due to the Uncap FPS mod.

I’d try it out. Everything on there is made for Xbox One so as long as your load order is solid, you should be good. I probably wouldn’t use Uncap FPS on an original Xbox One, though 😉
