My FIRST solo backpacking trip with my dog

This was my first solo backpacking trip with my golden retriever, Nala. We stayed the night near Silver Lake Flat in American Fork Canyon, UT. I have never gone backpacking with Nala alone before, and I wanted to do something pretty easy and close to home. Nala did great and we will definitely be doing more backpacking this year!

I have one just like her. Goldies are the sweetest natured dogs , they give you so much of themselves. Who would have known that the mix of setter, irish yellow dog, (extinct now ), water spaniel, Tweedsdale spaniel, also extinct, and blood hound, would have produced this God-given gift of a dog so loving and wanting only to be your best buddy, loving you with a constancy like no other. Those 19th century Scottish estate owners who wanted to breed a dog for retrieving game from water have left the world the priceless legacy of the golden retriever we know and love so much.

Getting ready to take my first multi-day solo camping trip with my dog as well! Coincidentally, we have a lot of the same gear... Including tent, pad and pillow! The bond between you two is lovely... My guy is a water dog as well, and we love sharing apples like that. I’ve only spent a handful of time in Utah, but from my experience and after watching this video, it seems there are plenty of scenic hidden gems to admire nature’s beauty. i noticed your posts in the shorts. have seen you with Nala so many times through those shorts and appreciated the enthusiasm and her happiness. It reminded me of my dear Jackson who made it to 17! Cool golden retriever. I had one back in the early 2000's and a couple of labs since. My current lab is a little lighter than Nala. Not quite two so still a good bit of puppy in him but he's getting there. Pretty scenery in your video.
