Cold night camping in the mountains with my dog

I took Nala out for our first backpacking trip of the year. We hiked up a closed forest road up past Silver Lake Flat in American Fork Canyon, UT. We had a record snowfall year in Utah so there was still tons of snow on the ground as we got higher in elevation. Afternoon storms made for interesting weather. Plenty of stomps to celebrate our first trek of the season.

I’ve had a Lab get shivering cold camping. I opened my sleeping bag and he snuggled in. He kept me warm I kept him warm. Only problem was from then on he always wanted to do it.

@@burakkurose I had a border collie. On July 22nd it will be 1 year that I lost him. Miss him everyday. He was almost 14 years old. I also miss my very first doggy who was a terrier/spaniel mix. We were raised together (poor mommy 🤣). Those special creatures know how to bond with us. They're little furry angels without wings.

It's really interesting how engaged Nala is with everything you do. She overseas you unpacking and setting up camp, inspects the tent sticks before you pouch them, she's as involved as she can possibly be, if she'd have hands she'd be doing it too! You have a genuine companionship, partnership with Nala, and the love you share is so strong. Even though her whiskers are greying, she's exited like young pupp to be out in the wild with you. I love your channel bc it really shows the bond and connection we can have, the fun we can share, with our dogs, if we care enough to listen to them as much as they do to us. We have had four Goldens throughout the years with the last one passing two months ago. We have decided to go dog free as my husband and I are retiring and we want to travel. A small Nalgene water bottle filled with boiling water and wrapped in a sock is really nice for situations like this. If you or your dog are cold or wet it'll really help and it usually stays warm for about six hours 🙂. I also bring some of those chemical heat packets for emergencies. They've made some unfortunate situations bearable. I love how sweet you are to your dog 🐕🙂 Nala is a zoomie MACHINE!

I lost my dog beginning of may this year, time of writing is mid July so its been just over 2 months ago now and it hit hard i went everywhere with him. He had to be put to sleep at 14.
