Took me back on memory lane; I learned at a tiny FBO in the late 70s when I was 17, older Piper 160 and then the operator got a later model Warrior II which had electric thumb trim on the right yoke, which I thought was really uptown after the little wheel down by the flap handle! Nice to see the older 'T' analog instruments. I think to this day I could climb in that cockpit and run a few loops around the field, and it's been awhile since my PPL days. Great little plane to learn in...

Awesome job! I should be going for my solo today at KHFD, and in a Piper Warrior as well!

Well done and congratulations on achieving your first solo. I did mine at the end of a lesson in which I did four circuits with an instructor. On landing I was taxing back to the club house but at the beginning of the runway he told me to swing the aircraft around and point it down the runway. He then climbed out and before shutting the door he told me to now do one circuit only on my own. Before I had time to think I had opened up the throttle and with the loss of the weight of the instructor the little Cessna 150 jumped into the air. Ten minutes later I was safely back on the ground. Another student did his first solo on the same day. We all headed to the bar afterwards and I had one heck of a sore head the following morning.

Man I thought the exact same thing when I went up for my first solo. It was in a cessna 172, but you can definitely feel the difference flying with someone and then flying by yourself. It is also a totally different feeling flying one plane and then trying out the next. I am training on a cherokee as well. Good luck with the rest of your training!

I’m at premier now working on my PPL, flying 2476M! Found this on my feed and had to listen to it a few times to make sure I was hearing it right lol

Very nice. I just did my first solo in a Warrior 2, you nailed your approach speeds perfectly, 63 right on short final. Thanks for sharing

i too live in the KHFD area, what school did you use?

The reason that you didn't float on that first landing is that you were coming in too slow to float. Floating is the result of too much speed, you flared at about 50. It's a little slow.

Just curious. It's been 7 years have you used your PPL and more to earn a living or you just recreational fly?
