Have you ever been stranded somewhere and concerned for your safety? Have you ever fished the Tellico Nymph? Have you ever had authentic, mountain distilled Appalachian Moonshine? Welcome to Tall Tales and Tying Tuesday where I tell you a story about all these things while I tie the Tellico Nymph. Fly fishing, fly tying, and fly fishing are some of my favorite things. If they are yours, please consider hitting the thumbs up and subscribing!
Here is the recipe I used in tying this fly: Many of the materials can be substituted for other materials. Use your imagination and let me know the results in the comment section!
Hook: Daiichi 1710 2x-long nymph hook (sometimes I use other brands)
Thread: 8/0 dark brown
Weight: Medium lead wire (8-10 wraps)
Tail: Fibers from a pheasant wing (sometimes I use partridge, quail, chukkar, etc.)
Body: Yellow rayon floss (silk works too)
Ribbing: Single peacock herl
Shellback: Several strands of peacock herl. Flashabou can be used to make a flashback version.
Reenforcement: Extra fine copper wire counter wound
Legs/Antennae: Three wraps of brown hen hackle
