I love the mangroves.. more than that, I love how it’s only mangroves. No buildings or boats, just tranquility. I’m glad you got that paddle board, as now you can go and explore these little remote places! Update: The more I watch the video, the more I’m in love 😍 that polarized lense is insane!!

That's the trouble with sight fishing, it's hard not to set the hook when you see them inhale it and you yank it right out of their mouth. Got to wait until you feel it!

I bought a flat bottom, open top kayak and after adding a DIY skeg it doubles for me as a stand up paddle board and it was an awesome, cheap purchase with no trailer required. Lots of fun and I'm glad you decided to try it out

Paddle board tip. Don’t need to use all 3 fins at once. The single center fin is for normal use, and the 2 small ones are for real skinny water.

Great video. One thing I've learned fishing on the paddle board is to put a loop or lanyard on your belt, put the handle through, and let the paddle sit at a 45 degree angle down towards the board. It's easier than bending down to pick up the paddle/helps you steer with one hand when there's current.

Lawson, I never comment on any videos, but i have been watching you for a while along with several other youtube anglers.. I really enjoy your videos and i learn a lot. Don't change your style! This was an excellent video and very entertaining. A couple notes on things I would like to see.... 1 - would love to see you go through the boat buying process.. what boats your considering and the pros and cons of each for your needs. 2 - Mixing in some more of these paddle board/mangrove fishing outings along with the shore/wade fishing videos like you have been doing and 3 - Dont assume your viewers only want to see you catch huge fish..... seeing what your doing just put fish in the boat/paddle board is enjoyable and educating... Thanks Man!

That little spots like an aquarium. I have very little experience with the styles of fishing you do but I have fished from paddle boards many times. So a few tips. Well done on your 1st outing. You packed light, have a big stable board, and chose a sheltered area. Wind is your enemy on a sup. There's so much surface area above the water and so little below the water that even a moderate wind will push you faster than you'd think. If you're confident in what the wind direction will be it's a solid idea to start fishing up wind. You'll get a "free ride" back to your launch spot. Bringing some thing to sit on is a good idea cause it loweres your center of gravity. (More stability and reduces surface area for any wind) Some thing I've found very helpful when seated is to use a double ended kayak paddle. Long SUP paddles are awkward when seated. A very important thing I'd recommended is leave your gear at home and just take your board for a paddle. Get the feel for your board in wind, boat wakes, and current. Move around in the board n tip it till it flips so you'll know where that point is before you have gear with you. Check out a few video tutorials on propper paddling strokes. The paddling you did in your video was easy. But If you do get caught in the wind or current you'll need to paddle with some power and keep a straight course. Which is harder than you'd think, especially in the wind. When your practicing n expecting to fall you should wear a leash. Like most things, SUP-ing is a learning curve. Start easy and work your way up to more difficult and longer trips. I live in San Diego CA and shallow salt water fishing like you do is not available. The little bit of shallow mangrove fishing I have done is in Baja California. The best.producing lure we use are weightless soft jerk baits from 3-10". The Z-man 'jerkz' even float. Fun blow ups on them. You can rig an weedless too. If you havent give a try.

yes Lawson! I just spent a year throwing fly from a paddleboard in the lower keys! Toss a headlamp on and do some night fishing for an awesome experience! Lawson, I kayak fish inshore (flats). This is absolutely one of the best ways to get into those more remote areas. Awesome way to fish! You may want to think about getting yourself either an anchor, or possibly anchor pin for you paddle board. This way you will be able to stay posted up in a spot without the wind blowing you all over the place. These anchors can also help when you have a fish on. The fish then will not be able to pull you in toward the area where you hooked up with it, thus spooking other possible fish out of that same area. Just a couple of things that I had to learn the hard way. Keep up the great work with these fun fishing videos.

I’ve been fishing from my paddle board for years on our local urban ponds. I use a sea sock on windy days or a lead anchor. Also, investing in a Deeper Pro Sonar was a great purchase. The SUP is nice to explore areas where boats cannot go. Enjoy!

Lawson, you can twist the paddle at the end of your stroke to keep your board tracking straight when paddling. Rotate the blade of the paddle 90 degrees at the end of your stroke and keep the paddle in the water a few seconds after your stroke. Use the paddle as a rudder

The polarized lens filter is working good, its nice seeing the fish. Another plus for Procure bait scent. BTW you can make a stick anchor from hardware PVC, just epoxy in a wood dowel internally to stiffen it up, "T" joint on top and cut diagonal on bottom for sharp point

Got my first one last year in Florida on my kayak (I live in Chicago). Got a 32" bull redfish when I didn't have my anchor out, I hooked it about 25 yards from the busy boat channel and it kept towing me towards that channel but i was able to turn it around every time. That channel is scary when you're low in a kayak and big boats are ripping through! But what a fun fish that was, I love catching redfish but only get the chance one week out of the year.
