The movie Flashdance was amazing! I grew up watching Fame the movie and then the series that came on every week. That time period had many music/dance themed movies, it was awesome. RIP Irene😢

getting through childhood was a lot like drowning on my own in the deep end but when Irene Cara came out with this stuff.. I was a pre-teen, and in an extreme amount of emotional pain. Physically, I was strong, and took dance lessons.. although I experienced really nasty bigotry with ballet dancing and dancers. I naturally gravitated towards the arts, although I was never given a chance to develop. Irene Cara made me dream, of the future I wanted for myself, and I had never done that before. So for me, Irene is responsible for waking me up emotionally to the good stuff.. she saved my soul. xo RIP Irene.. I will always love you.

Yea that’s Jennifer Beal that played in Flashdance. Great movie. Jennifer Grey is the girl from Dirty Dancing. Another good movie. This song is amazing. The singer Irene Cara is of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent. She is also extremely beautiful and talented. She was an actress too. She died in 2022 at the age of 63. Much to young. She was amazing.

Actually, the girl you see in the video is actress Jennifer Beals who played (and danced) the main role in Flashdance. Irene Cara does not visually appear in the video but her voice rules! RIP Irene

What a song. What a voice. Such an undeniable part of my teenage years. Another one of my heroes gone way too soon. It didnt show her in this video but she was soooo beautiful. So hopeful and driven and energetic. You should watch the Solid Gold performance of this song. First Irene , then Olivia, now Mcvie. I can't take it anymore. Rest well my beautiful ladies. I love you all, and miss you. I'll never forget any of you.

I watch this with joy and sadness since we recently lost Irene Cara. A fabulous talent. Grammy and Emmy award winner. I believe this was the song of the year. Thanks for reacting to this!! If you're looking for a reaction idea, check out a song/scene from the 1980 movie Fame called I Sing the Body Electric. Irene Cara was a teenager when she filmed this. It is best when watched in context because it's f*cking beautiful. Full orchestra, band, choir, soloists, dancers and a duet harmony that is like nothing you've ever heard. I can say this pretty confidently because I'm old and I haven't heard another harmony so memorable before or since. Also, it's a fabulous 1980 time capsule of hair and clothes.
