The abandoned city is Pripyat and is next to Chernobyl the nuclear power plant! It was a town of about 80000 people and was evacuated overnight which is why everything was left just sitting there!! This brilliant sounding instrumental earned Pink Floyd a Grammy for Best instrumental in 1994.

when i see the title "marooned" i think of being lost like david bowie's major tom in "space oddity". but in a sense, though, we are all marooned on this speck of dust we call earth floating in the vacuum of endless space.,each of us is a space traveler. gilmour's guitar playing conveys that feeling perfectly in this song.

David Gilmour. A great mind and a pure soul. Only such a person could compose a solo like that.

This shows Chernobyl, a city in Ukraine, now a ghost town, that suffered a deadly nuclear accident in 1986. Such beautiful music for such a sad story.

You take a trip every time you listen to a FLOYD RECORDING! Amen BIZ! 👍👍 And you nailed it on "as above, so below" and I could tell you how factually real that term means, but it would take a book to allow you to understand. Damn you Nailed it! 🏹🏹🏹🏹🎯🎯🎯🎯

This is from the Division Bell album, and of course it's Gilmour. This is the only song they ever won a Grammy for.

This song has only been performed live three times: at the two concerts in 1994 in Oslo (Norway) as part of the Division Bell tour (one of the recordings is part of the bonus material on the Pulse concert DVD) and in 2004 at The Strat Pack concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Fender Stratocaster guitar, at which Gilmour performed with his Stratocaster “#0001”.

To me, this is a late night, lay in bed and listen with headphones type of song. Although the film is very well done, I prefer to close my eyes and just lose myself. There is no one like Pink Floyd.

Pink Floyd is a journey you will not regret starting. Division Bell was one of two albums without the original bassist Roger Waters. Momentary Lapse of Reason is the other. Both very good and shows the influence of David Gilmour. I had the pleasure of seeing them twice in Ohio Stadium and the old municple county stadiun in Cleveland in 88 Enjoy the ride!!
