When people say they don’t like Pink Floyd I think what is wrong with them. I’ve only heard a few people say that of course because most people who have heard them absolutely love them. Gilmore is amazing, one of the greatest of all time!

Genius comes in a lot of packages. Ferociousness and unbridled aggression like Stevie Ray or in contrast there is the poetic haunting transcendence of David Gilmore. It’s an emotional roller coaster with Gilmore but it’s oh so fun to ride!!
@lubos1207Ай бұрын
Gilmour's most famous guitar was certainly the legendary Black Strat (sold at auction in 2019 for about $4 million) but for this event, David took probably the rarest piece - a Stratocaster with serial number 00001. As a tribute to Fender.

I've been a Pink Floyd fan for over 40 years. My favorite guitar player is probably Yngvie Malmstein, but nobody makes a guitar sing the way that David Gilmour does!!!

They won their only Grammy for this song. In 94 they performed it in Norway or Sweden, can’t remember which, but people were very emotional about the whaling industry and they played a video on the big round screen of humpback whales and people were literally in tears during the performance.

He chooses not to play fast

Yup. It's a choice. There are two examples of him "playing faster" in the fade outs of a couple of songs. One on his eponymous solo album and one on Animals.

Thanks for this! I forgot how good this performance was. This was the third of only three ever live performances of this song. The other two were as part of the encores for Pink Floyd's August 1994 shows in Oslo, Norway in protest of the whaling practices there.

Hey Polo, you definitively need to check out the supergroup Oysterhead. Les Cleypool on bass from Primus, Trey Anastasio on guitar from Phish, Stewart Copeland on drums from the Police. The title "Mr. Oysterhead" is amazing.

Hey Polo I'm a new subscriber. I came across your AIC reactions and they were awesome. You should check out the band "In this Moment" Sick like me, Whore, The Purge, Adrenalize me, or her slow song The Fighter. I think you'll like their style. Heavy metal instruments with a soft vocal.

This is a beautiful piece of guitar work.. I did however keep waiting for that often hard to compose resolve. Leaves u with the itch you cant scratch.. Try SONG OF THE WIND by SANTANA ... It the same general idea as Marooned or Zappas Watermelon.. repetitive backing track ...guitar going full ham.. difference is the resolve is there... the guitar work is no better.. just magical in its own way
