Unfortunately, I found out about her when she was murdered. I was 10 years old and I didn't know anything about her. But after seeing this video and hearing her other songs, I became an instant fan. Then in the summer of 1995, the year Selena died, I bought her last album, "Dreaming Of You", on my 11th birthday. I'm so proud to say that Selena was the first CD I ever bought with my own money. She was such a beautiful, talented lady. I listen to her music daily.

In the movie, she actually did not want to sing in Spanish. Eventually, she wanted to learn to speak it. Glad you are reacting to in my opinion, the most talented woman in the world. She worked so hard to get where she was and then it was just all taken away from her just like that.

I know she would probably get a kick out of how popular she has become over 28yrs. If she was alive now I know for a fact that she would have accomplished SO much in music, movies, tv and even as a fashion designer. There would be a Selena etc in almost every state and around the world.

I just loved your reaction video. You actually made me cry. Growing up in Corpus Christi Texas I grew up seeing Selena in concert. I was 15 when she passed to be with God. We still miss her until this day. Selena is the only artist I feel a great connection to. Selena was so positive, no scandals, drug free, humble, and just overall a great role model not only for us Mexican Americans, but for anyone. Truly missed but never forgotten 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢❤.

Each time she sang this song she sang it with so much emotion because she knew the real meaning behind it. Ricky her band mate wrote it because he was so in love with Selena’s sister. He wrote this after Selena’s sister got married and he was devastated.

I was ten when she died and on my way home in the school bus when it came on the radio. In her honor they actually released “dreamin of you” and everytime I hear that song I start to cry for her. She was such an angel. She told fans that met her if they were young to stay in school, and work hard. She was 23 about to 24 when she died and wanted a family of her own one day. Her next record would have been her break out English record! Jennifer Lopez got big after she played Selena in her life time movie (not the one the younger kids have seen from Netflix either) lol. Her husband Chris is still alive and talks about her too. The awesome part about Selena is you didn’t NEED to understand spanish to understand the tormoil or anguish in her songs. Yes please do more of her videos!!! Dreamin of you will set you off! ❤

It was written by bandmate ricky vela secretly for his sister who he was in love w but couldnt be with because Selena's dad didnt wanted bandmembers to date. After Suzette Quintanilla married thats when he confessed

You should look up the lyrics to this song. It's heartbreaking... The passion she sings with will hit so much harder. The story behind the song is that the keyboardist in Selena's band wrote this song, but it's about Selena's sister who he was secretly in love with.

I would've loved for her to travel across America. I would've enjoyed taking my daughter to see her live. She learned Spanish before she learned English by her music. We still know every word and she just turned 30. Selena was murdered the day before my birthday. I cry every time it arrives 😭

I never really knew it until I was older, but I believe some of the first music I heard in my life was Selena. I was born in Jan. 1996 and her songs were still playing heavily on the radio during my very early years. I never knew her name but I knew her voice and when I was older and heard "Dreaming of You" again for the first time where I could understand the words, it clicked with me that she was that voice and that was the song. I used to hum the melody without ever knowing what it was. Then when I learned about her and her music, it always touched me deeply when I hear her music again. Every time.

She had been performing in spanish since she was a little girl. WAY before she knew spanish. Her father said he would tell her what stuff meant and where to put emphasis on words.
