I think you mean Slide Guitar. It's a technique, not an instrument type; though they are commonly used together. Bravo for offering up the answer though, I came to the comments to answer it too.

Chrystian Cutright slide is the "style" and steel is the "instrument". You can slide play most guitars to some level. Steel guitars come in lap, pedal and traditional styles.

Country music is about real life and things that are relative to real life experiences. Not always but most of the time. It comes from the heart Vince Gill wrote and sang a song called Go Rest High on the Mountain and that was about his brother that passed away. Listen to it 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙

This one hits hard. When my wife was seven months pregnant her blood pressure skyrocketed and they misdiagnosed her with preeclampsia. They did an emergency C-section but her blood pressure kept rising and she dropped into a coma. For 3 days I paced the floor at the hospital. They kept telling me to go home and rest but there was no way I could sleep. We took turns icing her and washing her face with cold rags. It seemed like an eternity before she opened her eyes. She finally came out of the coma and we got to keep her for 16 more years. I don't know if you'll get this comment so long after posting this video. If you do, watch the very end of the video again. You'll see in the background Johnnie grown up taking his son fishing and his wife and their second child come into view just as the song ends. So his prayers were answered.

I knew my wife since I was 8 years old, I reconnected with her 11 years later and it was a beautiful relationship, we faced adversity and then we had a kid and she didn’t think she could, but prayer was great. Then her and my baby died in a car accident and that call from police changed my life, I was with friends and then I isolated myself and did many drugs and gambled and after losing all my money, I became homeless. But I’m thankful to God for not giving up on me, so I work for Him full time now and I’m still homeless, no money, but He provides. So this song definitely is close to me, but not spot on. I don’t know if I could ever love a woman as much as I did her, but I know love God more than any woman and that’s what keeps me going. God bless

For me, one of the things I love about country music is the artists ability to take even the most painful life experiences and transform them into something absolutely beautiful. Then that beauty touches you in that painful place and allows you to heal a little each time. There’s very little more powerful than an excellent story teller connecting with you on a very deep and personal level. Kinda lets me acknowledge that I’m not the only one that has experienced a painful event and that others have come through it and so can I.

I'm 33 years old. I first heard this song when I was like 12. That was the year i got into country music while visiting my mom in Florida. This one is one of a handful that always stuck with me. Until i saw the video i always thought she died. As i got older the lyrics really hit home for me. The duality of it and how the father says he'll change his mind and he both does and yet doesnt. Dont take the girl starts off as not wanting her around and morphs into not wanting to be without her and ends with being willing to die for her. It's a sentiment that lodged in my heart and has never left. I think i've finally found my girl and I'd give anything, do anything to make sure I don't lose her.

My brother and I used to sing this song to our girlfriends growing up. One day he got into an accident and the momeng I saw him with tubes cominv out of his body, I blanked out and everyone in the room told me I hit my knees and repeated the last verse. He was out of the hospital in 2 weeks. Our bond has never been stronger.

This song takes me back to the 3rd grade. Me and another person listened to this every day on a walkman at recess.

I saw this and I knew you would love it. I said to my husband, you would need tissue because it rips me apart too. Wonderful response. And you're right, beautiful song! Great reaction! Have a great day!

Let me point out that most country songs tell a story and that’s why they’re so good at capturing emotions. Many country artists, especially the older ones, “lived what they wrote and wrote what they sang” as was said by the great George Strait in one of his songs. There’s a human and interpersonal connection with people. It’s heartfelt, and relatable. That’s what makes country so unique.

I enjoyed seeing you talking about the "country sound" LOL. It's a steel guitar and they are beautiful instruments. They're sadly being lost to time but they remain in many old country and rock songs.

How's that for a gut-wrenching sad song? No body can do that like a country music song writer. Any man that's ever deeply loved a woman can be brought to his knees with that song. But that's what I want from a song---make me FEEL deeply. An that's what I want from a reactor---someone who FEELS deeply and doesn't try to hide it. Love you, Gitana. 😢💕

Originally released in 1994, and I loved it then too. Wow. For a story with no real ending, it makes you think. Good ending? Bad ending? But, it captured a lot of hearts. Great Post.

This song always sets me on edge. lost my first daughter just after her birth and would have traded anything in the world at that time for her to have a chance. So yah don't take the girl is special. Anyone That has lost or nearly lost a loved one can relate. That's what country music is at it's core, learning life's happenings. I listen to all genres but when i want a story I go to country. Concrete Angel by Martina McBride is one of the most impactful videos I've ever seen. Makes you sad mad angry and punches you in the gut and the heart.

My wife and I had our first child, a little girl and a day after we came home, my wife said she didnt feel well. We rushed her to the hospital and they admitted her. Her blood pressure was extremely high. It was preaclampsia. After two days, she came out if it...barely. I told Mother Nature if she took my wife, I'd burn this planet down and my daughter and I would rebuild it in my wifes image.

For me I said a similar prayer that Johnny did in the video 2 times in 2020 once when my husband was diagnosed with cancer the other when my husband went on Hospice at home 3 weeks before he died from the cancer.
