💯. Although one of my favorite songs of his from his album Love It To Death is Long Way To Go. It was featured in the movie The World According to G.A.R.P., but really I love every song on that classic album from 1973 or 1974. I've even covered a couple of those in a band I was in at one point. We did our own spin on them and the audiences inevitably loved it.

We used to hear this on the radio at the end of every school year growing up and we'd all sing along. Here's a few more from Alice Cooper you should hit next: I'm Eighteen, No More Mr. Nice Guy, Under My Wheels, Be My Lover, Dead Babies, Clones (We're All), Cold Ethyl, and Only Women Bleed.

He is no doubt the first of his kind. This entire album is excellent. He doesn't get the credit he deserves for being a really brilliant songwriter and lyricist.

You know what all of us school kids from 1972 going forward sang at the end of the year (May/June) depending on location. My senior year was 1975, Alice Cooper was the bomb, actually music in the 60/70/80s was nuclear bombs. Enjoy, check out No More Mr. Nice Guy by Alice C. Another fun rocker

I remember when this came out; the grown ups thought it was the end of civilisation as we know it! Like many artists he had to come over to England to make it. He said us Brits "got it" and realised the whole thing was just pantomime. 50 years later this still rocks.

Your enthusiasm is infectious. Great to hear this again. It was popular when I was graduating high school, and was certainly the theme song, and reality for many, who said screw school and hitched around the country or Europe, if well-heeled. Good to take time way and figure out things.

I was a teenager when this album came out. My friend had a copy, and we immediately set about replicating the desktop on the cover of the album on one of the desks at school. 😁

Alice Cooper was the first concert I ever attended. I was 14 and it was 1975. I was allowed to go because my oldest brother would be taking and supervising me. (This passed muster with the parents, even though I think they would have been upset that the "supervision" wasn't stricter, heh.) He graduated high school in 1972, and this was voted his class song. By the time I saw Alice, he had broken up the original band heard here. He had top flight people in his new band (the legendary guitarists Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner, known for their work with Lou Reed, among them) but I liked his first band, because they really were a group of guys who knew each other and hung out together in high school, starting in garages and growing up together through the lean years until they were pretty accomplished and very tight as a band. You will want to hit "I'm Eighteen" (often called "America's 'My Generation'"), and "Billion Dollar Babies"...At one point, around 1973 or 74, they might have been the biggest American rock band. I remember reading that they outgrossed the Rolling Stones in touring revenue one year...

I loved Alice and I’ve seen him 6 or 8 times, but I don’t care for much that he did after 1980. The early stuff is absolutely killer, even the deep cuts. And he’s still awesome to see in concert!

I saw him a few years ago and the show was incredible. He sounded amazing, the music was loud and hard and it was one hit after another. IDK if he started touring again after the big C but if he is, Silas, I HIGHLY recommend taking Olivia to one of the best R&R shows out there. The oldies are fading fast. Get out and see them bc after they're gone, what's left?

I love Alice Cooper to death. In fact that's the name of my favorite classic album from him, Love It To Death. I think it's from around 1973. Silas, I bet you would totally dig that whole album. And it does have some nice sequencing to some of the tracks. School's Out came out a little earlier and I can remember us belting this at the top of our lungs on the playground in grade school when it was getting close to the end of the school year in Spring and everyone was so antsy.

alice got the term "school's out" from an old dead end kids movie from the 1930s. one of the characters told another "school's out" while tapping his temple, meaning it was time to grow up. in alice's song it takes a more literal meaning.

This song was played by me for the last 4 years of high school on the last day. Everything you read about Alice’s concerts is real. My favorite part was when he used a gigantic hypothermic needle to draw blood from the evil nurses. Alice is native to Phoenix AZ and still lives there. He owns a few restaurants and tours periodically. Great guy who loves baseball.

Nice one Silas ! Alice Cooper was originally the name of the band but the singer, Vincent Furnier took it as his own. The writing credit a lot of the time goes to all of the band. Rhythm guitarist Michael Bruce wrote or co wrote many of the songs and hits, Glen Buxton wrote a bit too and was a unique lead guitarist with a wiggly vibrato, Dennis Dunaway played bass and wrote some songs too with the awesome Neal Smith on drums. I love all the albums from the 1st " Pretties For You" all the way to " Muscle of Love " but my classic 4 are " Love it To Death", " Killer", " School's Out " and " Billion Dollar Babies". To me when the original members left it just wasn't the same. Please more early classic Alice Cooper, Silas and Co. !!

Most influental rock and prog muscians in 60s and early 70s were from the UK. Alice Cooper (and Frank Zappa, Sparks, Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and a few more) were from the US. Arthur Brown had his hit "Fire" in 1968. Black Sabbath released Paranoid in 1970, and Alice Cooper's first hit "I'm eighteen" was released 1971.

Glad you enjoyed this Rock God, this was a blast back in 1972. Don't know if you noticed but the album cover is the top lid of an old-fashioned school desk, complete with scratched graffiti, and it lifted up to show the inside of the desk, very cool. He would be great to see live, but I'm afraid after 50 years and more of doing his own thing, the TRAs have come for him because he said that blocking puberty in gay kids, leading to their sterilisation and medicalisation, is just a 'fad', and of course he's nearly right, it's more like a major scandal than a fad, but anyway, for expressing his opinion he is currently being 'cancelled' losing a contract to advertise make-up, they're coming for him now... It's a funny ol' world...

I'm always shocked when I see that young people do not know Alice Cooper's school's out. Back in the 70s, that song was probably sung by every student in the English speaking world. At my school, they tried all kinds of threats to try and stop us from singing that song. Then, in 79 6:22 , Pink Floyd released "The Wall" and that became a new school anthem song.
