Didn't know what to expect when I clicked on you & yr reaction, but Queensrÿche guided my click. Very glad I did. You're interesting & engaging, & watching your face break into little smiles of appreciation here & there as you watched was priceless. I first saw Queensrÿche in '86, touring their then-new album 'Rage for Order' (still my favourite album of theirs) & was blown away, especially by Geoff Tate's incredible vocals & the guitar & drums of Chris DeGarmo & Scott Rockenfield respectively. They followed it with what is one of the true great concept albums of all time, 'Operation: Mindcrime', in '88, a work that genuinely needs to be heard in its entirety by anyone who understands good music. If you want to listen to more, I suggest 'Gonna Get Close to You' or 'Walk in the Shadows' from 'Rage' or 'Revolution Calling', 'I Don't Believe in Love' or 'Eyes of a Stranger' from 'Mindcdrime' (have to say, tho, the tracks from 'Mindcrime' might leave questions unanswered as they form part of the story & are being taken out of context). I drifted away from them after their following album, 'Empire' in 1990 ('Silent Lucidity' & 'Jet City Woman' are absolutely outstanding tracks from this disc, MORE than worth a listen) but rekindled my interest in them with their 2019 release 'The Verdict', the third w/a rather good new vocalist Todd La Torre, & am now exploring their back-catalogue. In 2007, they released an album of covers by bands such as The Police, Peter Gabriel, Black Sabbath & Pink Floyd, called 'Take Cover'; their cover of Floyd's 'Welcome to the Machine' is one of the greatest covers, let alone of a Floyd song (all imo, of course) ever; If you know the original, PLEASE give it a listen, even if just for yr own pleasure. Anyways, enough rambling. I really enjoyed yr reaction, & look forward to more. You got a new sub, Blondie.

This is the 18th review of this song that I have seen. I have seen reactions from vocal coaches and ordinary fans. But, every single person is shocked when Geoff Tate hits that first high note. It is even more fun to watch someone who has never heard of Queensryche (Pronounced Queens Rike) before. I can guess you may not have a lot of experience with Metal (Especially Prog Metal), but you seem to be open minded, which is important when you are doing reactions. What you have stumbled onto is one of the very best Progressive Metal bands. In fact, Queensryche along with a band called Fates Warning are credited with starting Prog Metal. You have also stumbled onto the very best metal singer of alltime. If you want to hear more check out anything between 1983 and 1996 by Queensryche.

Love the reaction to the first high E5 note! Probably the same that happened with me when I first heard them (in the 80s) and never stopped. Welcome to the QR world! (BTW, pronounced more like "Ryke" or the german word "Reich", I suppose.) Geoff Tate is the best there ever was. Many moons ago we went to see them on tour in the winter, then waited outside in the cold to see if we meet the band, and Michael (Wilton, guitar) peeked out invited us in where it was warm. Got to meet the whole band and even the singer who sang Mary's part in Operation:Mindcrime! Best album ever, highly recommended. It tells a story from beginning to end.

Pure talent . Geoff Tate for seven glorious years , for peak value , he was the best vocalist in music , across the board . At his peak , he possessed a five octave range . He could hit E5 naturals , a very rare feat for a natural born baritone . And please remember , his E5 naturals are sung in full voice , not falsetto. Incredible. Another thing that is not mentioned , is how Queensryche compositions were written in such a way , to showcase Geoff Tate 's extraordinary vocal range . The jumps in pitch and octave range. Very reminiscent of operas composed by Mozart . One opera: The Magic Flute . An exceptional vocalist.

Jesus, the vocal Harmonies ON TOP of the Guitar / Bass Riffs, and that INSANE guitar lead with SO much emotion!!! ... my point is, its not just Geoff here that blows my mind, the entire band were beyond amazing... and remember, this is LIVE folks, ...LIVE.
