As a pad player, I've felt the change in the way these games have handled for at least the last 3 games. 2021 was when the feeling of the cars having no downforce and/or front end grip, no matter the set up really hit hard and its gotten progressively worse. The cars feel fat and lethargic on every circuit with any setup and the live service gimmick bullshit has given me no reason to properly sit down and learn what this game needs for me to go fast.

On F2021 (and this could be because my wheel is old ish or I couldn’t find its specific rig in settings) but I found it was pointy at the front but really loose at the rear when high speed cornering. This made it extremely annoying to drive as it was basically a lightly watered down version of F1 22 handling which I duly stopped using and went back to F1 2020 which I I’ve been using since. I did buy F1 22 and 23 but since they weren’t great I couldn’t be bothered to buy this one

They only delayed it a few years to lull all the idiots into safety, and now they sprung their macrotransaction trap In the matter of the sounds, you would think if a company has the official license they also would have the means to be able to record the original sounds, but then again we are talking big AAA publisher here, of course they WILL not put down more money then absolutely neccessary (sometimes even less),a nd this the lackluster engine noises

EA Sports were once the pride of sports video games. Now they are nothing but a greedy corporate machine, giving as little as they can, knowing they will make billions from those who care little for the best experience, and are conditioned to accept such poor attempts at entertainment. How they keep getting away with charging so much for what is, at best, mediocre, rushed, and purely cash driven development, is beyond me. I truly think this attitude is unsustainable in the long term. All people eventually wise up to it.

Taking away all of the customisation and putting it behind a paywall is the most disgusting EA thing they could've done. EA buying Codemasters is the beginning of the downfall for Codemasters. I was like genuinely angry when I was creating my driver and seen that there's literally no options available in the base game. They're legit like "Give us money for this game, and then give us more money to change your helmet". They can go get fecked, this actually makes people less likely to buy "PitCoin" more than anything.

Have a look at the lifespan for the 2 sets of full wets, it’s far too short. If you have a full wet weekend at china, the combined laps of the sprint and main race are bigger than the 2 sets of full wets you get so it’s impossible

The problem with f1 22 onwards is the car has no traction in f1 2019 with no traction control had more traction than f1 23 with medium braking and full traction and you loose the rear more often

That’s just not true, traction has been getting easier after f1 22. It was generally agreed in the community that f1 23 was a big improvement handling wise (for a codemasters game ofc). With f1 24 being so wonky and way to easy to just force the car to do whatever you want.

Yea the traction on this game is so easy. They dumbed down the traction for all the casuals. Go play 23. It's much more difficult to get on the power. Medium traction in 23 feels like no traction in this game. I hate this 24 game with a passion. Car feels absolutely awful

ACC and AC are often on big sale on steam so keep an eye on that. iRacing is obvisiouly quite expensive allthough you can get a 1 year subscription for free via your national fia member club. AC Evo will also release this year which looks very promising.

i found to get ffb to work properly i had to go back to main menu..unplug wheel..wait a few seconds..plug back in and it worked how it should...if you plug wheel in before starting game then most the time ffb didnt work.

Tbh idm f1 24, its by no means realistic but for a pc player that should be fine since we have options like iracing and ac if we want realism. But the big thing for me is the fact id prefer an f1 game with good arcade-ish handling model rather than a poor attempt at a realistic one, that would be the reason i would rate f1 24 higher than 23 and 22, but if ac or ac evo gets good ai programming it will put f1 games in dead water for pc

You're probably not going to heed my advice, ...but, the difference between those who go to the top in any technical sport, be it table tennis, ice hockey, pole vaulting, ...or race car driving, and those who just pad out the field, is that the top don't drink alcohol, ever. The alcohol, even as little as a single beer, screws up the forming and programming of synapses in the brain, spinal column and nerves. One single beer can ruin as much as 4 -5 months training progress on the very edge skill. Just so you know.

f1 23 is so underrated the handling is actually fun as. Going from acc and ac to F1 23 makes it seem way less detailed, but even compared to those amazing sims the handling is still really fun and the car is very connected to the wheel. It has better handling than f1 2020 by far, but f1 2020 was better for the time and a much better complete game. Buy f1 23 if you have the option of them both.

You can go from AC to F1 23 and retain pace as the handling is similar enough. Sure 23 is less detailed than AC but the basic fundamentals of how the car drives is similar. 24 is a weird arcade mess.

It's.....OK, now. But at launch, it was terrible. There was so much downforce that you could just Chuck the car into corners at high speed with very little braking and just go full lock to get around the fastest. I think ERS, DRS and slipstream need a nerf, or at least dirty air needs a buff. It's a downgrade from F1 23, which ai thought was one of the better releases in recent years.

This is the first F1 game since 2017 that I won't be buying, absolutely had it with this garbage. The last 2 I bought and played 30 minutes, rage quit in disgust at how shamefully bad they still were, but no more. This one the engine sounds like some kid has stuck a plastic bottle in their bycycle wheel, graphics are still cartoonish, and I'm no longer tolerating the lack of mouse support. Totally done with this trash. The FFB and handling won't get any better either, it isn't your setup, the game is just shocking. The cars handle like a fat elephant on an ice lake, and the way the game claims to be a simulation when it suits but then hides behind it being an arcade gamepad game when criticised is pathetic.

He compares the in-game sound to an onboard video of the real thing and it's quite similar. The onboard recording is slightly more resonant but otherwise it's a dead match. F1 uses an inline V6, it's really not a great sounding engine.

I'm not sure if it was 23 or 24 i played recently at a friends house (he works for sony and got it free) but the sound was ATROCIOUS. Aside from the engines sounding frankly terrible... Not only did the accelerator seem to effect the engine sound like a volume control, no tone change to it, but the atmospheric 'sound design' side of the experince seemed to be almost completely missing. We back-to-back'd it with GT7 and the difference was immense. It made F1 sound like an isometric indie game in comparison. The tyre noise, pebbles being flicked up, wind noise, gearbox noise, sound of cars around you, things shaking about in the cabin, every bump and slide and curb jumped had audio attached to it. Excellent sound design. F1 on the other hand..... BUUUUZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZBUUUUUUUUUUUUZZZZZZZZZZZZZ BUUUUUUUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ and very little else. The best setting for audio we found was 'in helmet' or something like that, which dulled a lot of the buzzing and seemed to let a little more 'other' noise through, albeit somewhat muffled. It was also harder to hear cars around you etc. Still, I found it preferable to the constant BUUUUUUUZZZZZZZZ etc.
