"It's my estimation that every man ever got a statue made of him was one kind of sumbitch or another." Once again, Mal is the voice of wisdom. But it was good to see that Jayne can feel something other than lust, hunger and anger. He actually has an introspective side. Can we say character development?

Jayne's character arc is my favorite of this series. From the first episode when he and Mal established one day, if the money is good enough, Jayne will turn on him, to this Episode where he shows he actually has some sense of morals, and the things that happen later are even better.

LOL it wasn't a log, it was a ceramic pot or jug or some such, most likely made of the same "mud" (clay) that the workers collect for the bosses. I love how wide Fess is man-spreading in that last scene with his father.

I would think the bloopers from the show are independent of the movie since the movie was done about two years later. But yes, since she loves the characters and actors, the blooper reels are really fun for after the show and after the movie. And one other thing I would recommend is this: on the DVD of Serenity, there is a short introduction by Joss Whedon. It was shown before an early pre-screening of the movie back then. He talks about how movies don't get made from failed half season TV shows, so this shouldn't even exist. It only happened because of love beyond reason from the fans. It's very inspiring and is nice to watch just before the movie.
@OzeroCa

Yes, watch the bloopers. Also you could watch the River Tam Sessions. But in spite of the River Tam Sessions being done as teasers for the movie Serenity, I think they work best if watched afterwards. The bloopers are best after Serenity also, as some of the best ones include the movie’s fuck ups.

His speech about kids in Stargate SG-1 is perfect: Colonel Dave Dixon: Yeah, all-night screaming, projectile vomiting, nuclear diapers... you have no idea. The reason they make them so damn cute is so you don't suffocate 'em in their sleep. Senior Airman Simon Wells: Sir, you have *four* kids. Colonel Dave Dixon: Yeah, why do you think I enjoy my job so much? Don't get me wrong, I love the little buggers to death, but trust me, havin' four kids makes going through a Stargate and facin' off against alien bad guys look like nothin'. This is relaxing. Senior Airman Simon Wells: Then why'd you have four? Colonel Dave Dixon: Well, one's pretty bad, but you figure you gotta have two so the little guy can have a brother or sister, right? Then you have two boys, and the wife says she wants a girl so you figure "Hell, three can't be much worse than two", right? What you don't realize is your brain is fried 'cause you haven't slept. After three, four is no big deal. You're so deep in it, nothin' seems to matter anymore. It's chaos. You're just tryin' to make it through each day alive. In the end, you spend all the energy you have left tryin' to get 'em into bed only to lie awake prayin' they don't get hooked on drugs, hurt, or worse... wind up dead in an alley somewhere. Senior Airman Simon Wells: Can't wait, sir. Colonel Dave Dixon: Yeah, miracle of birth, my arse. I'll tell you what a miracle is, birth control that works.

The Firefly watch order I would recommend is: 1. The TV series (episodes 1 to14) 2. The TV series bloopers 3. The R. Tam sessions (five short videos marketing the film - on YT as a single watch) 4. Serenity (the film) PS. Thank you so much for pausing to comment. PPS. IMO you've just hit the Gold Patch with regard to episodes.

Episode 8, Out of Gas coming up. My Fave episode...There are only really good episodes and GREAT episodes in this show...no bad or so-so episodes. What a shame this show was cancelled! The movie is pretty darn good and, while it helps if you watched the series, you don't actually need to have watched it to enjoy the movie. Jos Whedon has had an uneven career (great to bad) but this series is genius! And it really shows Jos at his best.
