personally, i love flying on planes. though i can see why lots of people dont. the ear popping can be uncomfortable, the stress of the airport, fear of heights, etc... im glad you enjoyed your trip though!!

It’s good to bring candy to chew while taking off and landing :) - it helps to prevent ear popping ( from my personal experience )

@@-starry-8569 yes! I normally chew some gum on the plane, seems to help. Though my ears dont pop as much anymore compared to when i was younger

What a cool trip. I was in NYC the same time as you and also use Porter. Way to go with your first flight especially with it being a smaller plane (more prone to turbulence etc)! Be proud! If you fly again some time, just know that those planes are made to be able to safely take a ton of turbulence. It can feel scary but as long as your buckled in, you're ok.

I thought I was scared of flying until I married a pilot.. then I discovered how much I love flying in planes big and small, however my favorite will always be when he’s able to fly me.

Well done, it's so hard to do things that are scary, even if there's something cool on the other end. I flew on a plane by myself a few years ago and it was the first international flight I'd ever taken since I was a toddler, the flying wasn't what I struggled with (I liked that, it felt safer than being in a car to me xD and the food was good), it was being alone surrounded by strangers and having to navigate unfamiliar places by myself (I have less than no sense of direction), it was literally from one side of the world to the other I only spoke to staff the whole time because I was terrified of everyone else, and luckily I had made sure the time between legs was as short as possible and just stayed in the boarding areas the entire time so I wouldn't get lost, it was really hard, but I did it and I'm proud I managed that (although I'll never do it again), and you should be proud of yourself for doing this, it's such a big deal to do something you're scared about in order to do something you really want to do. I'm so glad you had Mike with you to help! It's one of my dreams to go to a toy event like the Sweet Suite, although I know they're usually just for store owners and people who have platforms to discuss products, still, I can dream xD It's also super super cool that you got to go to such a massive milestone anniversary event, like you literally just participated in history (technically I know everything is but this is the sort of thing that would have photos and records and such in the future). The fancily decorated parts of FAO Schwarz (like with the fun themes) are how toy stores look in my head (like Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium), and I'd totally be doing the same "We don't even have this in the UK" if I was looking at things there xD America gets so many cool things that the rest of us miss out on or struggle to find! I would be uncomfortable with the number of police around as well, and the number of people in general, I struggle in Glasgow and it isn't usually as busy (like the average weekday in New York is probably like peak-December-shopping Season here), I'd still go if I could and if I had someone I trusted with me (I'd also love to go to Japan even though it's even busier in Shibuya, I'd panic but it'd be worth it). I'm so so happy you had a good time ^_^

I have flown many times over the years, thrice to and from Canada. The first flight that I remember was when I was two. I looked out of the plane windows and insisted that the clouds were snow. To tell you how long ago it was, the plane had two huge propellors on each side. You are so much fun to go to New York with. And you need that Christmas Barbie and so do I!

As someone who flies 2-3 times a year, you do get used to it. But there were times when I did get freaked out by turbence but that quickly changes when you have to comfort your 2 year old because of them 😁 also having a hubby who is a pilot telling me "oh, that's NOTHING compared to..." Nope. I don't want to know. Keep those thoughts to yourself dear. 🤣 Loved seeing the awesome creators at FAO with you. 👍

It's weird you had to take a car, a train, a bus, AND a ferry to get to your airport...meanwhile, yesterday I just walked 2 miles to my airport to fly back to my home state to say goodbye to my doggo. Also, NYC cross lights are just for fun. If the road is clear...or not...just cross. If you're skilled, you can Frogger your way to surviving. It's a fun game.

I don't like landing in a plane. I love taking off, but no matter how smoothly the pilot lands, I feel that awful bump and it is jarring. It looked like you have fun it this part 1. I can't wait to see part 2. Thank you.

I been flying since I was 6 months old, I haven't been on a plane in 13 years (my last flight I was 12 and I'm now 25 almost 26) though mostly due because my family hasn't gone anywhere that required us to fly again so much, we typically gone only 4-8 hour drives away so no need for a plane but I actually enjoy the whole flying experience personally, idk why, I guess it just because it meant we was going somewhere "fancy" enough we had to fly, and why I fear heights I'm actually fine in planes, I do hate the ear popping but it always happens when I fall asleep and why it would wake me up and make me uncomfortable for a hour or so I still enjoy the flight, currently trying to convince my bf to let us fly from South Carolina to Michigan to see my side of family I haven't seen since my mom's funeral 13 years ago and I just don't feel like us doing the drive mostly because our car wouldn't be able take it

Honestly, I've never flown, so I can't say for sure how I'd react, but I KNOW I'm terrified of being in deep water. Going through the tunnel to the airport, I'd have been a wreck. They'd need the moving walkway, cause I wouldn't be able to move on my own. I'd be huddled, white-knuckled in a corner. You did really well for your first flight though. You should be proud.

I really dislike flying. I have anxiety and the whole experience of being on a plane feels so unnatural and uncomfortable it sets my anxiety off. I've flown a bunch though so I've learned to mostly cope with it (e.g. get to the airport super early, have stuff to watch/listen to for the whole journey, enjoy the landing lol). But I'd much rather take trains or boats than fly.
