2 cups of channa soaked over night
1 tbsp. minced garlic
1 tbsp. minced bandanya
1 tbsp. curry powder
1/2 tsp. geera powder
-----------------------------------------------
For the Bara
3 cups of flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
1 tbsp. yeast
warm water to knead.

My aunty, rest her soul, used to make and sell doubles. She didn’t make the balls like you did. She used to just pull a piece of dough, stretch and place in the oil. Then she repeated. Amazing skill set. Your videos are pretty awesome.

OMG that looks great. I used to stay at my friends house in Couva (Dow Village) and every morning at 7, the "doubles bike" would come down the street while we drank morning coffee. I'd yell out "Doubles Guy" and we'd go down and load up with 2 doubles "hot" each and have a great start to do the day. Thanks for the video; cheers from Canada

My friend John and I talk every day he is Canadian and I am Trinidadian. I have regaled him with stories of Trinidad and our food. This morning he showed up at my place with doubles he made following your recipe. This sent me right back home. Standing by the doubles man in Curepe slapping them down one after another We live in Windsor Canada so there really isn’t an opportunity to buy or get these anywhere Your recipe and my friend John just made my day. Your doubles recipe which John made almost made me cry......its hard to cry with your mouth full. I have a friend that own a Caribbean Mexican fusion restaurant. He has roti but no doubles. I just sent him a picture of the doubles from your recipe and told him he’s can shut down the restaurant at any time: I have a buddy who just got his honorary Trinidadian citizenship through your recipe. Born in Trinidad, grew up in Brooklyn, live in Apopka FL. 2 days ago I did the doubles. OMG it was soooo easy and delicious 🤤 I had a lil channa left over so yesterday I made more barra, this time I made the barra fatter to make a more filling doubles. Great videos 👏🏽 getting ready to make the hot cross buns 😛 And my sisters was so jealous they begged me to share your link😂

Hi Natasha it's Tracey here am all the way from Guyana I try this recipe today n my doubles came out perfect but I added a little sugar in my dough and I soak my Channa over night then pressure it a lot and then strain n do the basics thanks I wish I cud show u a picture ❤️❤️❤️❤️Love your recipes and also your voice Thanks for your help am 21 and I learn to make doubles already 😁

I made this today, it came out pretty good. My dough didnt get as soft as they do when I buy them at the shops and I put in a little too much curry, but overall I loved it!

Looks good, is the barra dough suppose to be that sticky??? bcas I watch another doubles video and the dough was soft but not sticky. And I wouldn't have put the barra dough on the counter, maybe on a wax paper or foil atleast but as long as your counter is very clean and sanitized then that's wat you're comfortable with. Also do you make them to sell bcas that's a lot you made.

My friend is from Trinidad and talks about doubles all the time. He says once you try them "it will change your life" hahaha. I made them today using your recipe and made a side dish of mango chow to bring over. I think I'll see a grown man cry today. 😂👍🏼

i just finished cooking my doubles. The taste is 👍 great. i also cook last week the corn soup 😲 omg... was amazing the favor my husband is from venezuela but Mother from trinidad and his 💘 the Trinitarian food. Great video. Finally learn how to make real doubles from Trinidad. Haven't eaten a double in the US because I had them in Trinidad and will be very disappointed. Had roti in in the states was hella upset because it didn't taste like how the people in Trinidad make them.

My very white husband who thinks he was a trini in his past life made these today and they were AMAZING. We are a trini family and we all agreed he killed it. He even made the mango chutney which was to die for. Mmmmmmm doubles, with plenty peppa!

I from Manhattan but I use to work in Jamaica queens and this lady use to stop by the restaurant and bring the doubles in the morning omg! They are so hot and flavorful. I took two home for my wife and they were so good she thought it had meat inside it lol

can you leave the dough in the refrigerator overnight? If I can should I wait for it to double in size first then chill it? for best results is it better to just start the Bara a few hours before serving?

Ifoma Smart it's best to make it when you want to use it as it may change the texture when chilled.

Cumin is geera powder,tumeric powder is saffron powder garbanzo beans or chick peas is channa.bandanya is recao .

Hi I have made doubles in the past but cannot remember which yeast to use (Instant or active dry). Do i let the channa soak in the frig or on the counter? And for the barra dough do you let that rise on the counter or in the frig?
