They look great. I look forward to hearing how you like riding on them. I hope you enjoy tubeless as much as I do. I have yet to have a flat tubeless tire after more than 15,000 km. Just this week, I pulled a thorn out of my front tire, heard the air escaping, spun the wheel to distribute the sealant, and in almost no time the sealant plugged the puncture. I inflated the tire to its normal pressure and enjoyed my morning ride.

Wheels and tyres are so important for the feel and reliability of a bike. Accelerate so much faster as spin up to speed quickly. These wheels are great. Will strongly bare them in mind when upgrade.

Rim weight makes more of a difference than spokes as are at the outer end - more mass to accelerate up. Steel for reliability makes sense.

Orange Seal sealant tends to get really foamy when shaken so it might be easier get the right amount of sealant by weight. If the 32 fl oz of Orange Seal Endurance sealant weighs 1000g, then 3 fl oz should weigh about 94g. So pour 94g of sealant into a cup and use a sealant injector to inject the sealant via the valve stem.
@TwoWheelCruise2 ай бұрын
That's a good idea. I couldn't see anything once I shook it
@cjohnson38362 ай бұрын
@@TwoWheelCruise You're going to lose some sealant over time anyways as the tire seal up punctures from thorns and such. I wouldn't bother worrying about it.
@changrenyong76162 ай бұрын
@@cjohnson3836 Having more sealant than necessary is not an issue for me. But not having enough is. When Orange Seal gets too foamy, it's harder to tell if you are injecting sufficient sealant because half the volume in the syringe could just be air.
@TwoWheelCruise2 ай бұрын
@@changrenyong7616 Yeah definitely gonna measure it first next time
@changrenyong76162 ай бұрын
@@TwoWheelCruise How long before you need to top up the sealant depends on your riding condition (temperature, humidity, etc). For me in the PNW, the Orange Seal Endurance can last over 4 months before I think about topping up (I set up a service reminder in the ProBikeGarage app). To check if there's sufficient sealant remaining in the wheel, I give the wheel a shake and see if I can still hear sealant sloshing around in the tire. For a slightly more precise method, you can use a dipstick (some Orange Seal sealant products come with a black plastic stick for measuring the amount of sealant in the wheel without having to unmount the tire). If you're going to use the dipstick method - in place of the Orange Seal dipstick, you can use a zip tie small enough to pass through the valve stem - I would do it immediately after installing the proper amount of sealant. That way you know the sealant mark on the dipstick that corresponds to the proper sealant amount in the wheel.

wow you have air compressor and everything :). btw, I finally moved to SonTra so now I have a room for my bikes. Repainted my old Emonda ALR to brushed silver finish and TI bolts from BetterBolts, less for weight savings, but to protect them from Da Nang's weather and my sweat. And I also upgraded/downgraded from Ultegra 11s mechanical to Sram Rival. And all this made the bike weigh 750 grams more :).

To reduce the chance of sealant clogging the valve core/stem, place the wheel with the valve stem slightly below 3 or 9 o'clock before inflating the tire.

Between the Drive 50D and Drive G45 which one would you choose if you wanted an all-rounder that does both road and some gravel well? (Thinking of a tire thickness of 32c - up to 38c). Thanks for the video

Probably the G45 just to be on the safe side

Do you have to offset the Elite rear wheel for the bike?
@ericb44192 ай бұрын
Interested to know this as well. Did you provide Elite Wheels with your bike information so that the rear was dished with the correct offset?

Yes, I had to re-dish the wheel for the Cannondale. You can do it at a bike shop or it's pretty simple to do if you have the tools

The syringe makes it super easy and clean, but I've found a higher chance of getting clogged valves when using them unless you get one narrow enough to go past the valve and straight into the tire. Honestly not even that big of a deal if they do get clogged, it's just annoying to have to clean them out in order to get accurate pressure readings.

These wheels do look very snazzy and are a good weight reduction for racing but just how reliable are they on rough terrain ? If anything punctures the wheel, does the sealant not start oozing out. as I have sadly experienced myself , resulting in a long trek back home ?!
@MerryNineThree2 ай бұрын
I sincerely doubt the wheel will ever be punctured, and don't even think you actually think that, so I'm going to assume mean the tire, in which case you should be prepared with a plug for the hole, or a spare tube in case the sealant doesn't seal.
