0:00-0330 is when I like to run. No traffic, most scales are closed, you don't have to fight with parking or showers
@bluegrassoutdoors10 ай бұрын
Interesting! That makes sense for sure. I may give that schedule a try some time. Thank you for the advice 🙏 I’m all open for good advice with this!

Easiest way I teach my students when I train about trip planning is Keep it simple. Point A( where you start) to point B ( where you take your 30). Now your 30 location has becomes point A. While parked plan point A to point be ( where you're going to shutdown). I strongly suggest you have 3 point Bs one before your main shutdown point in case you don't have enough time to get there and one past your main in case that one is full.
@bluegrassoutdoors10 ай бұрын
Sounds like great advice and I appreciate it a lot 🙏 I’m definitely open to good advice in this. I had to have multiple locations to shut down at during my solo loads with my trainer as well. Preplanning is definitely important and I need to do better with it!

my rookie year, I slept at weigh stations. why? truckers are scared of them so there was ALWAYS parking. also, id start my shift 2-4 in the morning, so whenever id stop for a shower before 12 there was plenty of parking to choose from. i didn’t have to worry about hitting someone else truck due to nerves. if I couldn’t make a weight station, rest areas were my best friend because I didn’t have to back up. whenever you stop at night, pop your trailer brakes then pull up. it’ll prevent your 5th wheel from getting pulled.

You should get a small single cup keurig coffee machine so you don’t have to go in to the truck stop to get coffee. Just a thought. Stay safe buddy. Enjoy your home time.
@bluegrassoutdoors10 ай бұрын
Great idea! I definitely plan to do that. I love coffee and green tea and I use my keurig at home to make both. I definitely want to get a smaller one for the truck!

If you get close on time again, or totally run out (as I did once) pull over and call your Fleet Manager and explain the situation. They will give you "personal conveyance" to get to the next safest place to park. If the next place doesn't work, call again and they will give it to you again. Your Fleet Manager will explain it to you. Call and ask. Good video, take care and be safe!
