So glad I found your video! I am hooked on buying form WN and considering selling. Most of the shows I attend do $8.35 total shipping no matter how much you buy. I dont understand how they can do that. I have gotten 10-15 pd boxes and only 8.35 shipping. I see in your spread sheet you do separate shipping on each item. Do you still do it like that? Hey I love that you did this video. Still curious on shipping. Once you place the shipping label on the package do you just drop it in the drop box at the post office? Or do you go inside and pay for shipping with the money you received from sellers? I would assume shipping is paid with the label on it. And also is there a way to save on shipping if the item can fit in a standard envelop (thinking about selling sports cards)

Buyers pay for shipping, so long as the shipping information is correct on your end. I double-check the weight of my items before printing labels at the end of a show. Whatnot gives you 5 adjustments on your sales for free a week. So if you mess up the shipping process you have that to help you. Then you just drop them off at the post.

So - you are showing that we pay percentage to whatnot based on SALE PRICE - TAX - SHIPPING???? I am confused. And nowhere is tax on a 9 sale 1.27. I am really confused with the chart you have displayed.

great question, you pay 8% to whatnot on the sale price, then you pay an additional 2.9% plus 30 cents from the total price of the item ( which includes tax and shipping). so for the 9 dollar sale the total of that sale is 15.52 that includes tax and shipping, .45 cents is the 2.9% processing fee on 15.52 then there is a .30 cent fee for a grand total of .75 cents for processing fee, does that make sense

These fees are INSANE though 🤯 after all the work of sourcing and setting up and shipping and the livestream itself, $179 does not seem like profit. Many hours of work go into even just one hour of livesale… man, I was excited to sell on whatnot but now I’m scared. The fees are as follows: 8% comission to Whatnot on just the purchase price not including sales tax or shipping (or 4% for coins & money category), plus 2.9% (of the subtotal plus tax plus shipping) plus a base fee of 30 cents. So, if I sold a book for $10 to a buyer, and their sales tax was 7% and shipping was $5... The buyer pays $15.70 ($10 book plus 70 cents tax plus $5 shipping). My fees for selling that book would be 8 percent of $10 (80 cents) plus 2.9% ($0.17) plus 30 cents. $1.27 is what I owe Whatnot. So if that book was one I already had (my own, not one I purchased to resell) my profit for that book would be $8.73 out of that $10 sale. It's MUCH better than Ebay!

@@TheNashvilleFlippers I see, so your column C is just to calculate part of the fees, the exact amount collected for shipping is the exact amount paid so there is no difference there. The shipping costs you have are the supplies for things like tape/packing peanuts/boxes if you have any and are not just free/re-used boxes and what you do spend on that is tax deductible but does still come out of your total Net pre-tax offset but is probably minimal and extra supplies are used for other orders. I'd like to see the time you invested in this. I'm looking at moving into WhatNot to expand on what our website/eBay/TCGPlayer sales are doing and wondering if the time investment is worth it and if the category of out of print card games has a customer base there. If the whole process took you only 3 hours, you made out really well. If it took 15-20 hours total, then it might not have been worth that Net unless you count things like this video, the growth of your Whatnot channel, subscribers, etc. as an offset of any related to it and it will increase your business in the future and that is part of the growth cost.
