Bought my tiger paws 20 years ago for use on the motorbike. Still use it annually when I go up to Scotland kayaking. Out of all the tents I've ever owned, this is by far the best! Its size, weight and build are all good for what it is. I've got many other tents, but always go back to the pro action. My zip on the main fly door is getting a little temperamental now, but with a little bees wax run along it, it's usually OK. Great review of an awesome bit of kit from the past.....thanks.

depends on how much you wanna spend, whether you like to buy brand new or second hand, prefer pitch all in one or inner first, alloy or fibreglass poles, how much you want the tent to weigh, intended use and location and weather conditions. its not as simple as that. another mans trash is another mans treasure. only thing i can suggest is do what i did, start off with cheap tents and upgrade as you go over the years and you find out what suits you best.

I still have mine, I keep having to fix the outer zip, but it's a great tent. I sold about 500 of these on ebay around 2003-2005, they came from the Argos catalogue, we used to buy Argos ex-stock in bulk for ebay, we paid about £3 each for them and sold them for various prices from £20-£30. I wish I'd kept a few to be honest. Never had a leak of any sort. The only thing I don't like is setting up the inner first. Nice video cheers :]

I had the same issues, replaced the zip with Velcro full length top to bottom, eyelet in the base of the door to make a porch. In the inner I put loops top and bottom to attach a loft for odds and sorts. 13 days across Scotland, no issues, lots of jealous Akto owners.Pity you can’t attach pics (or if they do I don’t know how)
@TOM_OUTDOORS4 жыл бұрын
the loft idea sounds really good, i'll have to have a look at mine and see what i can do.
@LeeHobbies4 жыл бұрын
@@rorymcguire6724 yes I want to get it replaced with velcro, I've used pliers to temp fix it a few times now. It's my fault as I like to sleep with the door half open for the view of the Lochs but to protect enough from rain getting in, so it stresses the zip. I've used it on many canoe trips in Scotland, often as a backup in case we can't hammock in some locations. Should have been going back to Loch Awe over Easter, but... well. Planning a trip for September if the apocalypse allows. "You have to believe in something, I believe I'll go canoeing".

Excellent vid. I still have my (green) tent and use it probably more than my various other tents. I used to get stressed out trying to centre the inner apex (door) but, of course, it doesn't centre - if you can understand! (hence the very useful space, outside the door, when the flysheet is fitted). Mindwiseman Maverick Outdoors has a couple of excellent reviews / improvements / repair issues (Google Mindwiseman). What I particularly like is, as you remark, the sitting height at the door. I am over 6 ft (1800mm) and I need 40 inches (1000mm or so) to be able to sit up comfortably - tent manufacturers these days are cutting size (costs) right back - 36 inches (900mm) is common. Grrrrrr!
