Fantastic! I love Dartmoor, it's just such a shame that the SOTA rules allow for so few qualifying summits. It could be radio paradise in that part of the world.

Great vid thanks for sharing, agree with some comments below re SOTA sites but it is what it is it just prevents some of us from exploiting more sites. However give POTA time and that should fill in some of the gaps. QRP and operating portable is growing in popularity and it’s great. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks Mike. I think a lot of people are suffering from the ever increasing noise floor. Especially those who live in urban areas (which is probably the majority of us to be fair). Given the very low noise floor on most SOTA summits & remote locations in national parks etc, it's not hard to see why portable operating has become so popular.

Not sure when the next one will be. I want to have another go at Exmoor National Park as I tried it after this activation & didn't make the 44 contacts required (two more videos filmed during this trip which will be released over the next couple of weeks).

well done James mate, especially in the solar weather we had over the last 7 days, not great, but 5* for perseverance 👍👍

Good to see you out playing radio again James. Hope the knee is holding up. I’m certainly up for a KZbinrs WWFF day, great idea. 73 & 44 Chris M0RSF

Awesome, we'll have to find a date when we are all available. I presume that weekend would be better for most people?

Slightly mad idea but how about a "KZbinr's WWFF day"? Thinking that if we can get 4 or 5 of us onboard, we could all activate different national parks & stir up a bit of activity on the bands. Could be a good laugh & drum up a bit of publicity to the WWFF scheme, & also help cross promote each others channels. Just a thought?

I've did exactly the same. On my trip to Dunkery Beacon later the same day (separate video.......will probably be released next week) I recorded my audio on the Icom 705 & thought that I was also over modulating very slightly. Knocked it back very slightly. We've probably all done it at some point!

@@AmateurRadioUK no worries mate, i did a tutorial last week and completely forgot what to do, instead of editing i left it in for comedy value, i think you get more respect when you erm... mess up at the end of the day, new members to the hobby aren't so afraid to participate when they see us make mistakes, keep it coming mate 👍👍❤❤👌👌

@@homebrewham2786 I completely agree. As you know by now, even if things don't go according to plan I still include it in the video.....hence a 15-20 minute long video about going to Scotland to activate Ben Nevis (and a further 2 videos about preparation) then not actually making it to the summit! Also the video where I lost my kite while trying to fly a kite antenna. As you said, I think it's worth showing it when we screw up, if only for comedy value!!!
