I was once told, "Never ask a barber if you need a haircut." Would a real estate agent based in Idaho Falls ever paint a negative image of Idaho Falls? ;) Just kidding. I've been to Idaho a few times with a sister that lives in Boise. I can say that any community dominated by LDS is most likely going to be relatively clean and friendly. I've ridden across the USA and back on a motorcycle twice in the past 4 years and Idaho was my first long stopover both times. I live in NC. Once you cross the Mississippi going West the people get nicer and locations, gas stations, everything gets cleaner, and the people get more friendly and service-oriented. The Eastern US seaboard and increasingly inland at NC is getting filthy. There is a huge influx of NY, NJ, PA folks that are obscene in public without remorse. Their children are nearly as bad as they are in public. Idaho people are some of the nicest and most decent I've met in all my travels.

Life in Idaho Falls? Yes, no, maybe. INL stands for Idaho National Labs, not international labs. Aka the Site. Most people that move here, do so for a job out there, including me. Been here 10 years now, worked there something over 8. Hey I have a family to feed. So here's my observations after a decade. The big thing is the weather. If you were only been through this past winter, it was a mild one. The winter of 22/23 just went on and on and on forever. People joke about 9 months of winter, at times that is not too far off. I've seen snow, real snow, every month Sept thru April. Locals talk about snow in July. Others want a white Christmas, we have a white thanksgiving. My observations of Utah is that its much more mild than us. Summers are nice, last year it was on Tuesday. OK, another IF joke. Most Augusts/Septembers we end up breathing the West coasts forest fire's smoke. None last year so we're due. July is good weather and smoke free. Summers are short. What else? Real estate is up a lot in the last 5 years, no bargains here anymore. ID is an open carry state, and if you don't like guns you may want to choose another state. Locals don't like outsiders for driving up house prices and trying to take away their guns. Dry air, you'll want to invest in hand lotion. I think you oversold water recreation a little. But fishing is quite popular. Farming is big outside town, and the roads often have large farm vehicles tooling down them. Be patient and pass with care. Hay fever is a real thing. We're a desert. The 4th of July Fireworks bill themselves as the largest W of the Mississippi. Every year tourons find entertaining (read painful) ways to kill themselves in Yellowstone. The 1st is before June. Sun Valley, Island Park, Tetons and Yellowstone are spectacular beautiful, but very crowded. And touron percentage is too high. While the town is family friendly, the single scene is grim. Town is basically closed on Sundays. The wind is real. I knew a couple that moved to Boise from CA, one winter and they were done. And Boise winters are mild compared to IF. Its pronounced Boy-SEE, not Boy-Zee. Locals don't like outsiders for driving up house prices and trying to take away their guns. And miss pronouncing their capital. So life in Idaho Falls? Yes, no, maybe. We're staying, but choose carefully.
