My Flipping Snell Knot

Most of the country is stuck inside so its that time of the year to work on tackle and practice knots. I still get asked all the time what knot I use when flipping, and my answer for as long as I can remember has been a snell knot. So thought I would make a video showing everyone how I tie my snells, if there are any other knots you would like to see let me know in the comments.

Bradley I am enjoying watching your channel and also on BTL. I would really like to see a show on fishing high, dirty water in the early prespawn which I struggle with. Water temp 51 degrees & visibility 2 to 4 inches

Try to avoid muddy water that cold. Find the clearest parts of whatever lake, pond, or river with those water temps early. Maybe just something stained instead of mud!

I’ve tried like 4 different ways to snell with braid and ended up using the version u showed due to how quick I can tie it. And it works good for flouro to. I always like the snell even with lighter weights so the line doesn’t get off to one side of the hook eye or another. I’ll also tie a few half hitches in the tag end just for some extra assurance.

Have you ever tried using a bobber stopper above and below the weight? It would probably hinder this application, but a texas rigged worm perhaps. Might save some money on weights if you break off. Just curious.

Jason Mitchell I have and has little effect for me. The Florida boys run 2-3 on top of the weight mainly so they have extra if one burns off they don’t have to retie!

I have had issues with loosing fish when I peg my weight to the hook. I have heard that some guys will slide the bobber stop up a little bit from the weight. Have you tried that and if so does it help. Thanks in advance.

Johnnie...... I’m telling you like I would tell one of my best friends. If your loosing fish man I don’t think it’s the pegged weight. There’s lots involved with this but the peg ain’t it! That’s just my opinion.

Steve Steve I loved 25lb big game Mono for many many years. I would not snell. Never did back then it was a Palomar Knot all day!
